The Tehama County Facilities Maintenance Department maintains County facilities with care and attention. The department provides building maintenance, repairs and custodial services to County facilities. Facilities Maintenance anticipates needs, provides effective solutions, maintains communication and performs maintenance work in a timely manner.

Administrative Secretary I:
$20.00 - $24.31 Hourly/$1,600.00 - $1,944.80 Biweekly
Administrative Secretary II:
$22.07 - $26.83 Hourly/$1,765.60 - $2,146.40 Biweekly
About the Position: Under direct or general supervision, provides varied office administrative, secretarial, and clerical support on behalf of designated supervisory, managerial, or administrative positions or in support of departmental programs; answers incoming telephone calls and direct calls to proper staff; coordinates assigned projects and services with other County departments, divisions, and outside agencies and provides general information and assistance to the public.
- Screens calls, visitors, and mail; responds to complaints and requests for information; assists in interpreting and applying regulations, policies, procedures, systems, rules, and precedents in response to inquiries and complaints from the public; enters/tracks public calls into appropriate computer databases; directs callers to appropriate County staff via switchboard or dispatching using a two-way radio as necessary; assists public at the front counter and directs public to appropriate locations/staff.
- Performs a wide variety of general clerical duties to support departmental/divisional operations; including filing, preparing records, monthly reports, accounts payable, petty cash reimbursement, and ordering and maintaining office and other related supplies.
- Organizes and maintains various administrative, confidential, reference, imaging, and follow-up files; purges files as required.

Administrative Secretary I and II: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by training in secretarial skills or relevant computer software applications programs
Administrative Secretary I: Two (2) years of varied clerical support experience preferably involving some public contact
Administrative Secretary II: In addition to the above, an additional two (2) years of work experience as an Administrative Secretary I or equivalent work experience preferably involving some public contact
License & Special Requirements:
- A valid California Class C driver’s license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.
The department is recruiting to establish an eligibility list for one (1) anticipated vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Administrative Secretary I/II, as well as subsequent vacancies, which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
