Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides oversight of consumer lending function including, but not limited to: override approval, developing and maintaining appropriate policies and preparing procedures for efficient and consistent underwriting, monitoring the consumer portfolio’s overall credit quality, maintaining appropriate policy exception documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable laws & regulations, and recommending pricing for consumer loan products.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Analyzes retail bank market conditions and recommends enhancements to existing products and/or new products to ensure that Bank of Colorado remains competitive in its served trade areas with functional and appropriately priced products along with strategies for cross-selling products.
  • Lead the adoption and optimization of sales tools, customer analytics platforms, and lending software across the branch network to identify, prioritize, and capitalize on consumer lending opportunities while enhancing customer relationships and portfolio growth.
  • Establishes appropriate processes and procedures for the underwriting, approval, documentation and compliance of all consumer loans for Bank of Colorado.  Reviews and recommends revisions to Bank of Colorado’s Consumer Lending Policy.  
  • Coordinates with Compliance personnel to properly mitigate regulatory risks and ensure that products and underwriting are compliant.
  • Responsible for maintenance and enhancement of the Consumer Lending System and for overseeing the ongoing function of the system as well as updating the system with policy changes, etc.
  • Develops and maintains the online consumer application, underwriting, and approval process.
  • Ensures compliance with the Bank’s Loan Policy and documents policy and pricing exceptions.  Maintains the Consumer Rate Sheet.
  • Develops credit systems that ensure Bank objectives for maintaining credit quality and administration are met.  Works with Senior Loan Officer Group to assess and monitor consumer lending asset quality of Bank of Colorado.
  • Reviews and approves consumer loans submitted for approval including credit cards, credit card renewals, business credit cards, adjustable rate mortgage loans, and DDL’s.
  • Assists Loan Officers and Personal Bankers to properly underwrite consumer credits and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  Provides assistance/training on "as needed" basis for consumer underwriting as well as loan processing function.
  • Monitors selected loans for compliance, documentation, and underwriting review.  Performs select post-closing audits of booked consumer loans. Works with Loan Review Team on branch consumer loan reviews.
  • Assists in developing and implementing management information systems to monitor and report consumer loan asset quality measurements.  Assists with the development of loan analysis and documentation tracking systems within. 
  • Serves as a resource and assists lenders with consumer loan collection efforts.
  • Assists Senior Loan Officer Group with tasks, responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.

  • Communicate effectively in-person and otherwise with all coworkers and customers, both during regular business hours and before and after regular business hours, if necessary. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration are essential for this role. While remote work may be available periodically, there are times when being in the office is necessary to maintain our collaborative efforts. Therefore, this position cannot be primarily performed remotely.

 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABLITITES:
  • Knowledge of bank policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of management practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of loan underwriting and approval procedures.
  • Knowledge of credit report scoring.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and database programs (i.e. Excel and Access). 
  • Skills in operating computer terminals and printers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to function as a team player and leader.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A college degree with an emphasis in business is required.  
  • A minimum of 5 years credit/loan related experience, specifically relating to consumer lending.  
  • A minimum of three years of direct employee supervision is preferred.
