Job Description:

Job Profile Summary:

The OJT Trainer is responsible for developing, conducting, documenting, and evaluating hands-on training for employees within a CFR Part 145 Repair Station. This position ensures technicians are trained and qualified to perform maintenance tasks in compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and manufacturer instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hands-on and classroom training for maintenance personnel.

  • Train employees on FAA regulations, Repair Station procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.

  • Instruct personnel on maintenance documentation, work orders, logbook entries, and regulatory compliance.

  • Teach basic and advanced maintenance skills, including:

  • Tool usage and accountability.

  • Fastener and hardware removal/installation.

  • Safety wiring and torque procedures.

  • Component removal and installation.

  • Troubleshooting and inspections.

  • Landing gear maintenance including removal and replacement.

  • Engine removal, installation, and replacement.

  • Evaluate trainee competency and provide coaching and mentorship.

  • Maintain training records and qualification documentation.

  • Support audits, continuous improvement initiatives, and workforce development efforts.

Education and Experience:

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.

  • Minimum 5 years of heavy maintenance experience.

  • Working knowledge of CFR Parts 25, 43, 121, and 145.

  • Strong technical, communication, and mentoring skills.

  • Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, technical data, and engineering documents.

Preferred

  • Prior experience as an instructor / trainer.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Be able to work in a variety of environments indoor and outdoor hangar.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and work around aircraft, engines, and components.
