Research Assistant – Bilingual Language and Literacy Assessment (25% FTE)

The Research Assistant will support data collection for a study involving Mandarin–English bilingual children in the early elementary grades. The primary responsibilities include working individually with children remotely to administer Mandarin and English language and reading assessments, assisting with parent interviews, maintaining accurate study records, and following established research and assessment protocols. Training on study procedures and specific assessment measures will be provided.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED. 0 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

  • Fluency in spoken Mandarin and English.
  • Bachelor’s education in TESOL or a closely related field.
  • Experience administering bilingual language and reading assessments to Mandarin–English bilingual children.
  • Experience interviewing Mandarin-speaking parents or caregivers.
  • Familiarity with standardized language assessments, such as the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Oral Language and Test of Achievement.
  • Experience scoring sentence repetition data that examines grammatical knowledge
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and sensitively with young children and families.
