Description

The University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a psychologist or neuropsychologist to join our expanding interdisciplinary team specializing in autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

Join the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota as a psychologist or neuropsychologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on a clinician or academic track. The University of Minnesota has an established autism clinic and research program and is committed to delivering high-quality services that inform and are informed by research. We partner with other departments and colleges within the University on research related to early risk, medical and behavioral co-morbidities, transition services, and understanding autism prevalence.

This position involves an appointment in the Autism and Neurodevelopment Clinic. The majority of effort will be dedicated to clinical services, with the opportunity to contribute to or develop research. Clinical services within the Autism and Neurodevelopment Clinic primarily focus on diagnostic evaluations.

The position is part of the University of Minnesota’s center for clinical research on brain development, the Masonic Institute on the Developing Brain (MIDB). MIDB brings together researchers, clinicians and educators, as well as policy and public health experts with the goal of addressing early and adolescent brain health to improve their collective impact and increase the speed of discovery.

Position Highlights:

  • Provide psychological and neuropsychological evaluation of children and adults with suspected or previously diagnosed autism.
  • Provide supportive communication with family members, school and other providers involved in the child's care. Position entails performing in-depth evaluations, written and oral feedback to families, related providers, and schools regarding test results and recommendations for treatment and educational planning.
  • Potential opportunities for treatment groups
  • Provide supervision of trainees
  • Participate in team conferences and provide consultative services on and off site.
  • Collaboratively work as a positive, constructive team member.
  • Additional job activities include conducting various outreach activities for the medical professional community and participating in seminars and various other didactic experiences.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota is comprised of seventeen subspecialty divisions and over 400 faculty. About the Division:

The Division of Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience is housed in the Department of Pediatrics in the University of Minnesota Medical School. The division is comprised of psychologists, physicians, and faculty researchers who focus their work on neurodevelopmental needs of children and families. All division faculty contribute to the missions of research, education and service, which often includes collaboration across the Department of Pediatrics, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and other areas of the University. With a broad commitment to Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience, we work to advance understanding neurobehavioral function in developing children, adolescents and young adults.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or a Psy.D. in clinical psychology, school psychology, or counseling psychology from an APA and/or CPA accredited program, internship training, and minimum 1-year post-doctoral training in pediatric psychology or neuropsychology is required.
  • Licensed or ability to acquire clinical license and in the State of Minnesota and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
  • Strong diagnostic skills required. Must be willing to train to reliability on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).
  • Excellent organizational skills, good oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency are required.
  • Work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research-level training and reliability on diagnostic measures for autism, including ADOS and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).
  • Experience working with complex patients with autism (profound autism, autism with co-occurring medical or mental health conditions) and very young patients (under age 3)

Pay and Benefits:

This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $115,600 - $170,800 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE.  The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
