This role owns Maintenance and Reliability, and associated processes, for the Yerkes Site in Tonawanda, NY. Yerkes is a multi-business unit manufacturing site spanning more than 95 acres, with approximately 500 employees. The site supports Corian® and Tedlar® manufacturing processes, and the Maintenance organization includes approximately 77 people. The Maintenance and Reliability Leader provides functional direction and input to multiple support roles and is accountable for the safety, productivity, quality, and overall effectiveness of the maintenance workforce. This role leads the facility maintenance strategy, implements and executes Maintenance Work Management Processes, manages functional and administrative goals, establishes and works within budget expectations, and develops future talent.
Qualifications:
- BS engineering discipline or equivalent experience required
- 7-10 years of manufacturing or related experience required
- Prior maintenance experience with a large multi-business campus or large maintenance team required
- Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process) experience required
- Prior experience working with a union workforce, preferred
- CMRP or CRL qualifications, preferred
Responsibilities:
- Lead the organization through the journey of our Proactive Maintenance objectives
- Collaborate with other resources and work processes to achieve the goal of shared asset management
- Deliver results: Safety, Reliability and Maintenance cost optimization
- Ensure discipline to our maintenance standard work to drive the necessary data for MRO improvement, PM optimization, and strategic planning.
- Provides functional direction to unit Maintenance Activity Coordinators, planners, schedulers, coordinators, maintenance and reliability engineers
- Accountable for the safety, productivity, quality and overall effectiveness of the workforce
- Leverages the Global Maintenance Work Process and Sub-Processes across plant
- Leads the site's maintenance and reliability strategy, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs, asset health management, equipment maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize asset reliability, availability, and lifecycle value
- Support and champion the advancement of our ultrasound, infrared, and vibration programs
- Accountable for reliability performance, maintenance effectiveness, reliability metrics, reliability reviews/deep drills, and the execution of improvement plans to enhance asset performance and reduce risk
- Accountable for the overall application of the Maintain Facility Work Process and overall alignment to the business' needs. This means:
- Implement Maintenance Work Management Process to the level that is locally required and adds value to the operating unit or business
- Ensures effective linkages with other processes
- The Maintenance Leader will assure that all Maintenance Procedures will include a hazard assessment indicating safety, health and environmental considerations and control measures to prevent contact or exposure. This information can be documented in the hazards and precautions table, the control measures block, or can be referenced in other documentation.
- The individual is accountable for functional/administrative goals and for establishing the budget that is consistent with the business needs
- Responsible for carrying out cost management
- Assures proper unit Maintenance staffing levels
- Accountable for resourcing reliability and maintenance reps for capital projects and maintenance improvement projects
- Competency Profiles, Employee Development, Deployment, Compensation in their span of control
- Develop Maintenance Engineers for future roles in projects, technical skills and leadership
- Drives emergence of culture and desired behavior
- Analyzes and audits work process results
- Responsible for unit Maintenance Reliability Metrics
- Articulates the expectations of all unit maintenance employees via the Site vision, Facility Maintenance Strategy, goals and common behaviors
- Coordinates/sponsors the formation of teams for timely resource leveraging to support significant opportunities
- Demands use of the Management of Change for value added improvements
- Accountable for measuring the performance of individuals against the expectations of the work processes and the utilization of most effective technology
- Ensures delivery of agreed to services as required by the business, area or site
- Optimizes the interface to other work processes within the business, area or site

Capabilities Required for this Role (Knowledge Skills & Abilities):
- Technical understanding of all unit operational processes
- Knowledge of appropriate standards, protocols, and systems
- Microsoft Office knowledge and skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Functional understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) software, SAP preferred
- Strong interpersonal and Conflict Resolution Skills with the ability to influence managers, peers and the maintenance team
- Effective risk management and mitigation skills
- Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications, planning and organizing
- Excellent organization and time management skills to include prioritization, scheduling, and optimizing work force skills and resources
