In this role, you’ll lifeguard, teach swim lessons, support and mentor fellow staff, assist with training, and help keep daily pool operations running smoothly. We’re looking for an experienced lifeguard and swim instructor who communicates well, leads by example, stays calm when it counts, and enjoys helping both swimmers and teammates succeed.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; or senior in high school on track to graduate.
  • Must be 18 years or older at time of hire.
  • One (1) or more years of experience working at a public pool as a lifeguard and swim instructor.
  • Must be comfortable working in a humid environment.
  • Must be comfortable communicating with staff, parents, and children.
  • Skills pre-test required prior to hire.

Certifications:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or a comparable lifeguard certification eligible for American Red Cross crossover training (e.g., Starfish Aquatics Institute/StarGuard, YMCA, or Ellis & Associates).
  • Current First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications.

Available Schedule: 

  • Rogue X is open 7-days a week, 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Hours will vary based on facility need and availability.

The anticipated hiring range for theEssential Functions of the Position:
  • Takes daily attendance of swim participants.
  • Conducts swim lessons for various ages and skill levels.
  • Lifeguards during open swims, lap swims, aquatic rentals, and special events.
  • Assists with scheduling staff.
  • Keeps accurate progress records on swim participants and swim instructors.
  • Participates in all staff training and meetings and aquatic Management Team meetings.
  • Mentors and supports new staff.
  • Assists Management Team with training and supervision as needed.
  • Enforces all policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Is knowledgeable about aquatics plans and other recreational programs.
  • Assigns instructors to teach lessons.
  • Follows emergency action plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care/treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Cautions and educates swimmers against dangerous situations.
  • Ensures pool water chemical tests are being completed every hour.
  • Assists patrons with putting on life jackets. 
  • Makes entries into the aquatic daily log.
  • Relates to the public in a positive manner.
  • Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: 
This position works indoors with exposure to regulated and moderate environmental conditions at the work site. The noise level is frequently moderate to loud. There may be routine physical discomforts from prolonged exposure to heat, humidity, moisture/wetness, and varying air conditions with temperatures of 80 degrees or higher. The position involves routine exposure to soiled materials and light cleaning substances such as pool cleaning solutions.

Physical exertion to perform strong swimming abilities without fatigue is required. Ability to react to emergency situations by quick body movements. Occasionally assist or support persons of varying weights of up to 100 pounds. Position experiences regular climbing in and out of pool with prolonged periods of time swimming and treading water; standing, walking, bending, sitting, and kneeling. Frequently use hands and fingers to process or feel objects, tools, or controls. Tasks require the ability to perceive depth, textures, sounds, and visual cues or signals.
