Description

Cabling and LV Systems engineer is required to perform cable engineering and design work, LV systems related design and engineering work, BOQs, RFQs and vendor related engineering in the standalone mode maintaining on time deliveries, quality and engineering budget.

Position title:                           Engineer-Electrical Equipment and Systems

Reporting to (Line):                Engineering Manager- Electrical Components

Reporting to (Functional):     Project Lead Engineer

Responsibilities

 

Following minimum activities are expected to be performed by this position:


  • Design cabling of complete system in scope for project requirement.
  • Prepare sizing calculation note for cables (MV, LV, Control and Instrument) and finalisation of cable parameters.
  • Preparing cable list/schedule in applicable formats for the projects.
  • Preparation of BOQ for cable and accessories.
  • Preparing RFQ specification and datasheet of cables.
  • Prepare termination schedule/chart for all types of cables in scope.
  • Prepare/review electrical load list.
  • Prepare RFQ specifications for LV systems such as power distribution boards, Junction Boxes, push buttons, illumination system etc.
  • Analyses the comments on Cable sizing, layout, Electrical equipment and ensure completeness of the documentation part.
  • Analyse the customer comments and technical query and prepare the related answer.
  • Ensure compliance to the applicable rules, regulations, codes and standards and according to good engineering practice.
  • Preparation/review of Design Concept and Electrical standard specifications.
  • Provide input for the preparation of Master Time Schedule and prepare list of deliverables.
  • Support to Lead Engineer/ Project Engineering Manager in their Project activities.
  • Support Procurement in the management of all claims and variations from the subcontractor.
  • Support the preparation of the Quality Control Plan (QCP).
  • Prepare technical replies and responsible for correctness of the documents.
  • Represent engineering scope of supply and services to the project team and towards the customers and suppliers.
  • Proactively follow-up & do the input management to track and trace documents and material through the document management team, expediting team and MTA system.
  • Participate in design review and design freeze meeting and ensure the corrective actions defined by the design review are closed on time.
  • Support in claim negotiations and preparation of relevant document and facts.
  • Review and follow-up of the documentation of his/her scope of work.
  • Give technical support to the site Team during Erection and Commissioning of Electrical scope of work.
  • Share return of experience from ongoing projects for benefit of other projects.
  • Prepare/arrange as-built documentation and participate in archiving final documentation.

  • This position requires some short travels abroad/ within India to interface with customers, partners, suppliers, site…

 

Authority
Area(s) where the position holder is the decision maker:

  • Obtain on-time decisions from the Lead Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer or Line Manager.
  • Right to receive on-time comprehensive and binding information relevant for the task to be performed from the functions involved in the project(s).
  • Receive technical support from the Lead Engineer, Electrical Project Engineer and Line Manager.
  • Access to technical tools and corresponding support as well as specialists’ know-how.

 

Area(s) where the position holder provides recommendations:

  • Alert other design Engineers of incoherencies or incorrect design he/she may discover during his/her work.
  • To advise his/her Lead/Line Manager about improvement of standard documentation and tools.



Key performance Indicators


The performance of the Electrical Engineer is measured against the successful execution of the project(s) task(s) he/she has to realize in term of quality and on-time delivery.

In addition, performance is measured on his/her capacity to interact with other disciplines: smooth interface with Mechanical Partner, Civil Partner, Site Construction Team etc. and on his/her capacity to coordinate with engineering performed in other Engineering Centers or external Design Offices.

Further objectives, Targets and Performance Measurements are defined on a yearly basis.

Required Competences:


Education


Mandatory (MUST)

  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent with 4-6 years of experience in cabling and LV systems area.

 


Experience


Mandatory (MUST)

  • Knowledge of cabling principles and tools.
  • Knowledge of LV systems/power distribution system.
  • Knowledge of electrical load list.
  • Knowledge of National / International codes and standard like IS, IEC, IEEE
  • Ability to handle the turnkey package on cabling and LV systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong intercultural skills and abilities of managing global processes & procedures.
  • Team player, collaborative.



Desirable (NICE TO HAVE)

  • Experience in Nuclear power plant.
  • Experience in thermal power plant.
  • Experience of working in global multinational environment.



Language skills


Mandatory (MUST)

  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in written English.
