The Principal Engineer will be responsible for applying effective analysis, design, programming and testing skills to produce software systems, assisting with the technical direction of projects.
This is a Wellington based fixed-term opportunity through to September 2028.

What are 5 day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Conducting analysis of project and software requirements as part of specific assigned work packages (more difficult than those of a Software/Design Engineer), in accordance with designated standards of methodology, style and quality.
- Providing first hand supervision and guidance to designated lower-level Software Engineers on assigned activities.
- Assisting in the preparation of project proposals and identifying areas of design that have potential to be patented.
- Undertaking assigned integration planning and software building definition tasks.
- May act as technology authority in short or long-term planning, making recommendations on technical policies within an overall program.

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and integration of software solutions for the CLR project.
Having worked on a similar project in a banking environment will be advantageous.
What technical skills are required for this role?
- AWS, Spring Boot, Configuration Management, Design patterns, CICD deployment patterns, Terraform, Ansible, Openshift, Dynatrace, Splunk, MQ, Kafka
- Work with other Principal Engineers, Platform Leads and developers to ensure solutions are cohesive and solve our customers problems.
- Proactively collaborate with security teams to ensure solutions adhere to organisational security policies and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with architecture teams to align strategies with overall enterprise architecture.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to advocate for and support the pillars across Engineering domain.
- Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to non-technical stakeholders and junior team members.
- Ability to develop software designs coding and testing according to specific work packages and project needs, in accordance with designated company standards of methodology, style and quality.
- Originating, using and promoting the creation and maintenance of company coding and design standards.
- Performing technical tasks, including unit test functions, as required, to support the internal quality and control arrangements as defined by company policy and project requirements.
