NavGurukul is a nonprofit working to create access to aspirational careers for young people from underserved communities. We run residential learning campuses and build pathways for students to develop skills, find meaningful employment, and build sustainable livelihoods.
We believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunities are not. Our work focuses on creating those opportunities through education, employment, and strong partnerships.
About the Role
We are looking for a Communication Manager who can help us tell the NavGurukul story clearly, authentically, and consistently.
You will work closely with different teams to understand our work, identify meaningful stories and impact, and communicate them to internal and external audiences. This role will involve a mix of content, storytelling, social media, internal communication, campaigns, and brand communication.
You will have the opportunity to shape how NavGurukul communicates its work, people, students, and impact to the world.
What You’ll Do
- Build and execute communication plans aligned with NavGurukul’s goals, programs, and impact.
- Develop engaging content for social media, website, newsletters, campaigns, and other communication channels.
- Identify and tell stories from our campuses, students, alumni, teams, and partners.
- Manage and strengthen NavGurukul’s social media presence.
- Work with internal teams to understand their work and translate it into clear and engaging communication.
- Drive internal communication around important updates, events, initiatives, and organizational milestones.
- Support external communication, including media outreach, partnerships, and opportunities to amplify NavGurukul’s work.
- Create communication and promotional material for events, campaigns, and key organizational initiatives.
- Track communication metrics and audience engagement, and use insights to improve our approach.
- Experiment with new formats, platforms, and storytelling approaches to reach wider audiences.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong storyteller
You can turn complex ideas, experiences, and impact stories into simple, compelling narratives. - Strong content skills
You have experience creating content across multiple formats and platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, campaigns, or similar channels. - 3+ years of relevant experience
You have experience in communications, content, public relations, brand, journalism, or a related field. - Strategic thinker
You can think beyond individual posts and build communication strategies that support larger organizational goals. - Excellent communicator
You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can adapt your communication for different audiences. - Independent and adaptable
You are comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, managing multiple priorities, and taking ownership from idea to execution. - Collaborative
You enjoy working with different teams and people and can bring out stories and insights from them. - Mission aligned
You care about education, employment, social impact, and creating opportunities for people from underserved communities.
What You Can Expect
- An opportunity to work closely with a mission-driven team and contribute to meaningful social impact.
- Significant ownership and freedom to experiment with communication and storytelling.
- The opportunity to work across different teams, programs, campuses, and initiatives.
- A fast-paced environment where you will learn and take on diverse challenges.
- The chance to shape how NavGurukul’s work and impact are communicated to the wider world.
Compensation
NavGurukul is a nonprofit, and our compensation is typically 60–70% lower than comparable roles in the for-profit sector. We are looking for people who are motivated by meaningful work, are comfortable with this trade-off, and want to take ownership while contributing to our mission and creating lasting social impact.
