Director of Security

Occupational Summary
Direct operational and personnel activities involved in establishing, promoting, and maintaining the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, ASC Provincial House personnel, and university property across campus. This position provides leadership for campus security operations, develops safety programs and procedures, coordinates with local law enforcement, and ensures a safe learning and working environment. Some evening and weekend work is required to support special events and campus activities.

What You'll Do

• Lead and oversee campus security operations, including crime prevention, incident reporting, parking enforcement, building access control, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.
• Collaborate with university leadership and ASC personnel to develop and implement policies and programs that promote a safe and secure campus environment.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related concerns and maintain strong working relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
• Deliver safety training, educational programs, and awareness initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Perform daytime security officer duties while supervising contracted security personnel for evening and weekend coverage.
• Recruit, train, and supervise a student security cadet program.
• Investigate incidents, maintain appropriate records, and support ongoing risk assessment and prevention efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum five years of experience in law enforcement, private security, investigations, or a related field.
• Firearms training and current licensing requirements as applicable.
• Valid driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle records check.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present information to diverse audiences, including students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members.
• Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and safety regulations and prepare reports and correspondence.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, or run for extended periods as required.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, preferred.
• College degree preferred.
• Prior supervisory and scheduling experience, preferably two or more years, preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
