Vein & Artery Surgical Consultants (VASC) is seeking a professional, compassionate, and highly organized Front Desk Medical Assistant to join our growing vascular surgery practice.
This position serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in creating a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with patients, excels in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and understands the importance of providing outstanding customer service while supporting both front-office operations and clinical activities.
This role combines patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and administrative responsibilities with Medical Assistant support duties, making it an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys variety and values teamwork.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Medical Assistant is responsible for coordinating front-office operations, ensuring an exceptional patient experience, maintaining accurate patient information, and supporting physicians and clinical staff as needed.
This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a patient-centered approach.
Essential Responsibilities
Patient Registration and Front-Office Operations
- Welcome patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
- Complete patient registration, check-in, and check-out procedures.
- Verify and update demographic, insurance, and contact information.
- Schedule office appointments, diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up visits.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Obtain and enter required information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collect and process patient forms and required documentation.
- Coordinate referrals and obtain outside medical records as needed.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Support efficient patient flow and communicate delays or scheduling changes to patients and clinical staff.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Assist with prior authorizations and referral requirements as needed.
- Scan, upload, and maintain patient records within the electronic medical record system.
- Complete assigned administrative tasks accurately and within established time frames.
- Maintain organized and accurate patient records.
- Assist with other front-office responsibilities as assigned.
Clinical Support Responsibilities
- Provide Medical Assistant support to physicians and clinical staff as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Previous experience in a medical office required.
- Experience in a specialty practice, surgical practice, vascular practice, or other healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records and medical scheduling systems preferred.

Position Requirements
- Valid Texas driver's license in good standing.
- Must be listed as a covered driver under a personal automobile insurance policy.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.
