What You'll Do
- Safely and effectively handle and restrain patients
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
- Apply your knowledge of preventive care and vaccination protocols
- Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for procedures
- Assist with surgical patient induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Closely monitor anesthetized patients and respond appropriately to changes
- Place IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy
- Perform intubation as appropriate to your experience and credentials
- Assist with emergency and surgical patient care
- Perform phlebotomy and collect diagnostic samples
- Take diagnostic radiographs
- Perform in-house laboratory testing
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
- Maintain clear and accurate patient medical records
- Document client communication thoroughly and professionally
- Educate clients about medications, treatment recommendations, preventive care, and follow-up instructions
- Communicate compassionately and professionally with clients and teammates
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and clinical areas
- Support teammates and help keep the hospital running efficiently
What You'll Bring
- At least two years of veterinary experience preferred
- A valid Veterinary Technician License is preferred
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- Knowledge of preventive veterinary care and vaccine protocols
- Experience with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Confidence with IV catheter placement and venipuncture
- Experience with intubation and surgical support
- Knowledge of radiography and diagnostic sample collection
- Experience performing in-house laboratory procedures
- Strong client education and communication skills
- The ability to explain veterinary recommendations clearly and professionally
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients and coworkers
- A positive and supportive approach to teamwork
- The ability to remain professional and composed in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation
- The confidence to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities
