About this role:

HP is the global leader in digital printing and you will be part of HP’s Print Procurement team, a world-class supply chain organization that sources millions of parts for printers manufactured and sold by HP every day.

You will play a key role in a team that supports multiple businesses within HP’s print industry, including signage, graphics, large format, office and consumer products as well as 3D printers. Within this world-wide team, you will manage strategic vendors and manufacturing partners for a variety of mechanical technologies. This position combines business and technical responsibilities, with a high level of responsibility and impact.

You will participate in all phases of HP’s product lifecycle, from New Product Development (NPD), to industrialization phases, to high scale production. HP will also offer you the opportunity to rotate, accelerating your learning curve.

Your work will take place in a multi-national environment, collaborating with R&D to understand emerging technology needs, influence design for cost, quality, and manufacturability, and collaborating with operations engineering and factories to ensure successful industrialization of parts and subsystems. You will also develop sourcing plans, explore and negotiate business deals and manage commodity strategies.

You may get to visit HP’s and supplier factories developing strong supplier knowledge and relationships.

Member of the Print Procurement Hardware Commodities team, the Print Procurement Engineer – Expert is accountable for managing strategic vendors and manufacturing partners, primarily related to mechanical manufacturing technologies, from both technical and business perspectives.

The role operates in a highly international environment, interacting with suppliers and internal organizations worldwide. The candidate will work very closely with Print Operations, Engineering, Print Procurement, and R&D to define and execute the best sourcing strategies, select suppliers, award or remove business, and ensure delivery of the right quality, sustainability, cost, and lead time, while building and maintaining strong strategic supplier relationships and ensuring a resilient supply chain.

The role also includes responsibility for the industrialization of new or modified designs for both new product development and existing product improvements, as well as supporting the identification and implementation of innovation and cost improvement  opportunities across the supply base.

At the Expert level, the position is expected to lead high‑impact initiatives and drive horizontal, cross‑functional, and multidisciplinary transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the sourcing strategy of several technologies which includes:

  • Anticipating the business needs by working closely with R&D (related Technology Roadmaps), Operations and factory teams from any HP Businesses and HP Sourcing Councils worldwide.
  • Building market technology, performance attributes and cost intelligence at part/subsystem/function level, identifying the possible suppliers.
  • Participating at early design decisions to get the most efficient inbound supply chain for new products (DFx).

Responsible for selection and management of suppliers which includes:

  • Integrating the needs of the future programs with entities including manufacturing operations and distribution, driving towards results.
  • Negotiating costs with vendors for pre and post manufacturing release as well as the rest of business deliverables (including terms & conditions, contracts and IP handling). Achieving successful deals for big manufacturing contracts, leveraging the scale of HP.
  • Growing a strong partner relationship by building personal empathy and through proactive and fair interactions following HP’s ethical principles.
  • Leading HP internal alignment, ensuring consistent messages to the vendors.
  • Periodical business reviews for suppliers, including performance evaluation and development plan.
  • Manage quality and assurance of supply issues with vendors and manufacturing partners driving short term and long-term action plans and improvements. Quality control plan, assurance of supply, prototypes for builds, metrology.
  • Ensure the procurement technical deliverables are met, including parts/subassemblies specifications, manufacturing processes and tooling,
  • Project Manager for procurement processes or projects, leading their implementation within the organization.

Project & Change Management

  • Act as Project Manager for assigned horizontal procurement processes or projects, leading their implementation across the organization.
  • Lead resourcing projects aimed at cost reduction and improvements in resiliency, sustainability, social responsibility, or other business needs.
  • Demonstrate a process‑driven mindset, combined with creativity to identify gaps and propose new or improved processes when needed.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial, Materials, Supply Chain, or Chemical Engineering. Business administration or management degree highly valued.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement engineering and vendor/partner management within industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital transformation and AI tools is appreciated

  • Strong understanding of mechanical part specifications, 2D drawings, quality control plans, manufacturing processes, and cost breakdowns.
  • Ability to build cost models, solve quality issues, and perform manufacturing process audits at supplier sites.
  • Capability to provide strong technical input to new designs through DFX.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Strong team player with the ability to build rapport with partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Open and constructive approach to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, able to integrate multiple organizations, drive internal trade‑offs, and ensure consistent messaging with external partners.
