A Brief Overview
Manage and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, which includes management reporting (under US GAAP) and Taiwan statutory and tax reporting (under IFRS), sound cash management and proactive financial planning and analysis of RGA Taiwan. Maintain strong internal controls, risk management focus and support strategic initiatives. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance the operational processes and drive the necessary changes to meet the business needs.

What you will do

Financial Reporting and Controls

  • Manage and work on accounting and financial reporting for RGA Taiwan. Ensure key accounting controls and financial integrity are in place in all aspects of financial reporting. Ensure adherence to RGA accounting policies and practices.
  • Manage and work on the submissions to regulators and tax authorities, including managing and responding to any queries arising. Manage tax returns preparation and collaborate with Global Tax team for tax filing purposes.
  • Support in the preparation of high-quality financial analysis to report on financial performance to stakeholders, including Business Leaders and Regional Teams, reflecting the different needs of each stakeholder.
  • Be up to date in Taiwan regulations from accounting, tax and regulatory perspective and identify its implications to the business and legal entity financial reporting.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and drive implementation.
  • Monitor the business’s cash position and ensure the business maintains adequate liquidity at all times.
  • Support SOX audit, compliance, risk and controls. Support in the annual audit process including managing and responding to auditors’ and regulators’ requests and queries.

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Identify potential improvements to financial reporting process and management systems to support RGA’s strategic initiatives.
  • Support the annual financial planning and budgeting process for Taiwan.
  • Support in producing updated financial forecasts throughout the year for reporting to management.
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Perform expense analysis for Taiwan and understand RGA’s operating expense structure.

Collaboration and leadership

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Finance Team.
  • Collaborate with Valuation and Administration functions on US GAAP and IFRS reporting to ensure coordinated efforts in reporting controls and review, as well as supporting annual financial plan to ensure consistency within RGA practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with Audit and Compliance functions to ensure proper oversight and support to local finance head to address issues from a finance perspective.
  • Collaboration with Valuation, Regional Teams and Global Project Teams for implementation of any new accounting standards or regulations.
  • Work with other functional areas in RGA to achieve efficient and effective accounting practices and procedures and respond to requests from other functional areas in support of Taiwan business strategic priorities and growth.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects which are in line with strategic priorities.


Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in Accounting/Finance.
  • Professional qualifications - Chartered Accountant, CPA and other equivalent.
  • 8+ years hands-on accounting/finance experience in life and health insurance/reinsurance industry.
  • 2+ years proven management experience, preferably in multinational environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of Taiwan insurance statutory returns and regulations.
  • Experience in audit and IFRS 17 is preferred.

  • Fluent in English and Mandarin with advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members.
  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions.
  • Advanced ability to adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
  • Familiar with and comfortable working in a matrix organization.
  • Persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues/problems is preferred.
