Position Overview
United Health Services Hospitals is a family of healthcare organizations that exists to improve the health of the communities we serve by developing and maintaining a comprehensive and cost-effective healthcare system.To meet the needs of the region and provide seamless, high-quality, comprehensive critical care services, we are seeking a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to serve as an integral member of the Hospital Medicine team, providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients and patients dealing with substance abuse disorders admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Working in close collaboration with the Hospitalist Attending Physician, the APP supports the daily management of ICU patients through clinical assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, patient and family communication, and implementation of evidence-based care.
This position is designed to enhance continuity of care, improve patient throughput, support timely clinical decision-making, and promote high-quality outcomes for hospitalized patients requiring intensive care.
The APP practices under established collaborative practice agreements, hospital policies, and Medical Staff Bylaws and functions as an extension of the Hospital Medicine physician team.
This position offers a flexible daytime schedule within a Monday through Friday work week.
Position Details:
Collaborate with the Hospitalist Attending Physician in the daily management of ICU patients.
Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
Conduct daily patient rounds and independent follow-up assessments throughout the day.
Develop and implement evidence-based plans of care in collaboration with the attending physician.
Monitor patient progress and promptly recognize changes in clinical status.
Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, radiologic, and diagnostic studies.
Initiate and adjust medications and therapies within the scope of practice.
Coordinate the timely implementation of treatment plans and physician recommendations.
Participate in admissions, transfers, and discharge planning for ICU patients.
Assist with the stabilization and management of patients experiencing acute clinical deterioration.
Conduct assessment and management of substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental illness
Assist with acute non ICU patients as needed
Location:
Binghamton, NY, is located approximately 2.5 hours north of New York City and one hour from Syracuse, NY. It is a progressive college town offering a strong healthcare presence, a safe living environment, and a diverse community with nearby lakes, ski resorts, golf courses, wineries, a symphony orchestra, and an opera company.
The position includes a competitive starting salary of $150,930 to $167,700, bonus incentives, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and a comprehensive benefits package, including malpractice insurance with tail coverage.
