Pharmacy Assistant

Description

The Pharmacy Assistant (Non-Technician/Unlicensed) provides administrative, customer service, and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the pharmacy. This role does not perform pharmacy technician duties, including prescription preparation, medication counting, labeling, or any task requiring technician registration or licensure. All duties are performed under the supervision of the pharmacist and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. 

• Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner. 
• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate pharmacy staff. 
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work area, waiting area, and storage areas. 
• File, scan, and organize pharmacy records and paperwork. 
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and company policies. 
• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with non-dispensing administrative tasks. 
• Perform other clerical and customer service duties as assigned.
• Assists with IT related items such as drug dictionary maintenance, adding new drugs, managing Meditech tasks.
• Assists with billing and charging issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required

Technical or related pharmacy experience preferred
