Responsibilities

The Community Financial Officer will serve as a finance and accounting business partner for the Community line of business executive leader and team. Responsible for all aspects of financial and strategic planning support including: 1) Reporting, monitoring, and analysis of the division’s financial and operational performance including Scorecard compilation support, 2) Financial evaluation of proposed strategic initiatives, acquisitions/divestitures, product development, etc., 4) Provide compensation-related support and analysis (ie commissions, incentives, production calcs and reporting)

 

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $61,200 - $123,700 per year plus bonus. The base salary indicated for this position reflects the compensation range applicable to all levels of the role across the United States. Actual salary offers within this range may vary based on a number of factors, including the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant skills and professional experience, educational qualifications, and geographic location.

 

Key Accountabilities

Reporting, monitoring, and analysis of the Community Division’s financial and operational performance

  • Coordinate the community division’s recurring financial and performance-related management reporting, including budget variance reports, performance trend analytics, and scorecards for Community leaders as assigned
  • Recommend and oversee the development and implementation of proposed improvements in the reporting and communication processes to improve management effectiveness and accommodate growth.
  • Provide analysis and counsel to assigned division leaders regarding the financial and operational performance of the various business segments within the Community area.
  • Prepare and deliver recurring reporting, analysis, and communication to division leaders concerning the Community Division’s financial and operating performance. 

Analytical Support for Community Division

  • Support financial analysis requests submitted by the Community Division, including feasibility studies for acquiring and divesting distribution platforms, merger and acquisition activity, and customer/product pricing.
  • Provide evaluation and counsel to Community division leaders regarding the financial impact of planned initiatives and strategies.
  • Direct and oversee competitive financial analysis and statistical studies to determine potential paths for financial improvement.
  • Review performance trends and recommend appropriate projections/alternatives to executive management.
  • Work with other areas to evaluate and counsel regarding the financial impact of proposed or planned initiatives
  • Serve as a Community project manager for cross-departmental initiatives involving coordination with other sales/support areas within the bank. 

Coordination and Development of the Community Division’s annual strategic plan and operating budget

  • Coordinate and facilitate ongoing planning and budget development activities to business partners within the Community Division.
  • Perform detailed analysis of budgets and plans to ensure both accuracy and consistency with the corporate plan as well as initiate follow-up with appropriate levels of management.
  • Prepare and deliver the Community Division’s plan and budget presentations to executive management for approval.

Compensation Related Support and Analysis

  • Coordinate gathering of relevant financial performance details to support calculation of compensation-related payments which may include commissions, quarterly incentive accrual calculations and analysis, scorecard review/validation of production detail, promotion recommendation review
  • Communicate compensation-related analysis to executive management for review and approval 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BA Degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and accounting at a corporate-wide or divisional level
  • Strong financial systems experience (e.g. Empyrean, Longview, Microsoft Excel) required
  • Significant exposure to Community banking (Retail, Mortgage, and/or Small Business), including a strong understanding of sales and operational processes, competitive analysis, pricing, product development, etc.
  • Broad-based GAAP knowledge
  • Strong, communication, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills required
