Grade E: Technical Specialist – IT Asset Discovery & Tooling
About the Role
Lloyds Banking Group operates a large and evolving IT estate. Our Enterprise Technology Discovery Team ensures accurate, scalable IT asset data using tools like OpenText UCMDB (also known as Universal Discovery) & FlexeraOne (also known as FNMS / Data Platform) to populate ServiceNow CMDB. This role focuses on utilising this tooling to maintain & expand discovery coverage across hybrid environments, and drive continuous improvement & automation.
What you’ll be doing
Working with UCMDB and/or Flexera One to…
Configure and optimize UCMDB / Flexera One for infrastructure and software inventory (to enable inventory insights).
Engage in technical assessments and hands-on problem-solving for discovery-related issues.
Lead agent installation, deployment, and troubleshooting across hybrid environments.
Design and implement new discovery patterns and integrations (if necessary).
Configure and optimize UCMDB / Flexera One -> ServiceNow CMDB integration to represent the IT estate accurately and improve data coverage.
Collaborate with stakeholders on requirement gathering, planning, and implementation work distribution.
Drive tooling upgrades, re-platforming initiatives, and automation of discovery processes.
Collaborate with engineering peers and stakeholders, championing Agile best practices.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement.
Support evolution of the ServiceNow CMDB data model to align with enterprise architecture.

Strong Technical Skills

Hands-on experience with agent installation and management or API integrations.
Familiarity with hybrid IT environments (Azure, GCP, VMware, Oracle, SQL).
Nice to have
Scripting/programming languages (e.g. familiarity with Python, Jython, Powershell, PERL)
Orchestration skills (e.g. familiarity with Ansible or Chef)

Evaluation Criteria
The Grade D & E vacancies are essentially the same role and candidates will be assessed using the same interview but performance expectations will be slightly lower of Grade D candidates.
