Description
The Snapshot
You'd be joining an established Australian wholesale chocolate supplier and importer, distributing premium chocolate products to retailers, food businesses and hospitality customers across the country. It's a lean, director-led business with a loyal base of small and independent business customers built up over close to a decade.
Here's the honest part: growth has flattened out recently, and the Director knows the marketing approach that got them this far won't get them to the next stage. That's exactly why this role exists. You'd be the first dedicated marketing hire, working directly with the Director (not buried under layers of management), with real ownership over how the business finds its next customers.
As the Director puts it, the product is chocolate, but the business is really about gifting, rewarding, recognising and celebrating. That framing matters: the people you'd be marketing to aren't buying chocolate, they're buying a way to say something to someone else. Corporate gifting, client rewards, staff recognition, and the occasions (seasonal, cultural, workplace) that give a business a reason to send something thoughtful.
You'll work full-time hours aligned with Australian business hours, so you can coordinate in real time with the Director and the external agencies you'll be liaising with.
What You'll Actually Do
Lead generation and outbound email
- Take ownership of outbound email marketing end to end: campaign briefs, building content in Canva, importing into Mailchimp, scheduling sends, and making sure everything goes out accurately and on time
- Build and grow targeted prospect lists using lead generation tools (Apollo, Lusha or similar), researching segments worth pursuing, corporate and professional services firms, membership and community organisations, and other B2B buyers where gifting and recognition are part of how they operate
- Keep the contact database clean: ongoing verification and de-duplication to protect deliverability and keep bounce rates down
Campaign creation and content
- Run the full campaign process from planning and content brief through to design, Mailchimp setup, sending and post-campaign reporting
- Design branded assets (email campaigns, brochures, promotional material) in Canva, keeping everything visually consistent and ready to send
- Write copy that leads with warmth and occasion, not product and price: chocolate is a discretionary purchase, so the words need to give someone a reason to feel something before they buy
- Plan campaigns around the commercial calendar (seasonal peaks, awareness months, industry-specific occasions) and spot the moments where the product has a natural place, for example October's Mental Health Awareness Month
Database management and reporting
- Maintain a well-segmented Mailchimp database, organised by customer type, industry and engagement history
- Track open rates, click-throughs and unsubscribes, and report clearly to the Director on what's working
Agency coordination
- Help the Director manage relationships with external digital marketing agencies: coordinating briefs, tracking deliverables, and reviewing what comes back
- Be the internal point of contact keeping agency work moving and on track
Marketing admin
- Keep a content calendar, track campaign deadlines, and keep marketing files and records organised
- Bring practical suggestions for improving how outbound marketing runs, and support ad hoc marketing and business development tasks as they come up
What You Need to Bring
- A real track record running outbound email marketing and lead generation independently: building prospect lists, running campaigns end to end, and improving results as you go
- Hands-on experience with a lead generation tool such as Apollo or Lusha to build and qualify prospect lists (real usage, not just familiarity with the idea)
- Confident, independent Mailchimp experience: list management, segmentation, campaign setup, scheduling and reporting
- Solid, hands-on Canva skills: you can put together a polished, on-brand email template, brochure or promo asset yourself (more complex design work goes to external designers)
- Copywriting that can carry an emotional hook, not just push product and price
- The ability to name a customer segment worth targeting and explain the commercial reasoning behind it, not just describe how you'd run a campaign to reach them
- Organised and self-directed: you can manage a campaign calendar, task list and database without someone checking in on you
Nice to Have
- Experience coordinating with or managing external marketing agencies or suppliers
- Familiarity with email deliverability and list verification practices
- A genuine interest in commercial, B2B-style marketing thinking: segments, occasions, and the reasoning behind who to target and when
The Setup
- Philippines-based candidates only
- Full-time, remote, working hours aligned with Australian business hours
- Work-from-home equipment provided
What's in It for You
A real seat at the table in shaping how this business finds its next customers, not just executing someone else's plan. The Director is actively looking for outside thinking and will be personally involved in getting you up to speed, so you're not left to guess your way through it.
On top of that, Staffstream looks after you properly:
- HMO health cover, with one dependent covered for free
- Group life insurance
- Paid leave credits
- Work-from-home equipment provided
You're employed compliantly under Philippine law: a proper local employment contract, your taxes handled correctly, and all your government-mandated benefits (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG) plus 13th month pay. That means real security and peace of mind, not a loose freelance arrangement. Everything is above board and looked after for you.
