Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive emergency nursing care: Performs timely assessment, triage, prioritization, interventions, reassessment, pain management, and evaluation of patients with acute and complex conditions; recognizes and responds appropriately to patient deterioration and changing clinical needs.
  • Ensures patient safety, advocacy, and quality care: Advocates for patient rights and informed decision-making; maintains confidentiality; implements fall, restraint, infection prevention, skin, and injury-prevention measures; identifies and reports abuse, neglect, animal bites, and other safety concerns in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs and coordinates clinical procedures and treatments: Safely administers medications and IV therapy; performs blood collection, central-line and urinary catheter care, point-of-care testing, NG and tracheostomy care, eye irrigation, visual acuity testing, and other emergency nursing procedures according to established standards.
  • Coordinates communication, education, and continuity of care: Provides individualized patient/family education and emotional support; accurately documents care; utilizes SBAR for handoffs and transfers; coordinates multidisciplinary care; ensures appropriate informed consent, advance directive documentation, and continuity of care during admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Demonstrates professional practice, leadership, and emergency preparedness: Delegates and supervises care within scope of practice; promotes teamwork, peer feedback, and efficient unit operations; maintains licensure, certifications, and ongoing education; responds appropriately to disasters and critical events; and demonstrates competency in evidence preservation, end-of-life/postmortem care, and other Emergency Department-specific processes.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Three (3) years of Emergency experience or two(2) years nursing practice experience and certtification, in an area of speciality from ANA or a nationally recognized professional organization. upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: CA RN, upon hire 
  • Basic Life Support - BLS, upon hire 
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS, upon hire 
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support - PALS, upon hire
