LME Assistant Trader 

Responsibilities

Position Purpose: 

 

Become part of a long-standing and successful LME trading desk in Dubai, where you'll work alongside experienced professionals and play an important role in supporting clients and daily trading activity.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop expertise in LME trading, risk management, and client execution within a fast-paced market environment.

Working closely with traders and brokers, you will gain hands-on exposure to global metals markets while contributing to the continued growth and success of the desk.

 

Primary duties will include: 

  •  Provide timely market commentary and daily updates on LME metals markets, highlighting key price movements, market drivers, economic events, and client-relevant developments.
  • Support the trading desk with trade capture, order management, position monitoring, and general day-to-day operational activities.
  • Liaise with clients to assist with trade execution, account queries, market information requests, and administrative requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports, including market summaries, position reports, pricing updates, and trading activity analysis.
  • Monitor news, exchange notices, and macroeconomic developments affecting metals markets, ensuring the desk and clients remain informed of relevant events.
  • Work closely with traders, brokers, and operations teams to maintain accurate records, resolve issues efficiently, and support the smooth running of desk activities.

Qualifications

To land this role you will need:

  •  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (required).
  • Strong interest in financial markets, commodities, and LME metals trading.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear market commentary and interact professionally with clients.
  • Interest in leveraging AI tools, automation, and data analytics to continually enhance research capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and support the development of trading desk systems and processes.

What makes you stand out:  

·  Previous experience or exposure to options markets, particularly LME or commodity derivatives.

·  Internship or work experience within commodities, brokerage, trading, financial markets, or a related field.

·  Demonstrated interest in metals markets, macroeconomics, and global market developments.

·  Experience producing market research, commentary, or analytical reports.

·  Familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, LME platforms, or other market data systems.

·  Experience with data analysis, automation, or programming tools such as Python, VBA, SQL, Power BI, or similar technologies.

·  Evidence of using AI tools to improve research, automate workflows, enhance productivity, or develop business solutions.

·  A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to build a long-term career within commodity markets and trading.

 

 

Education / Certification Requirements: -

·  Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline (required).

·  Strong academic record with demonstrated analytical and quantitative ability.

·  Additional qualifications or coursework in financial markets, derivatives, commodities, data science, or programming would be advantageous.

·  Professional certifications such as CISI, CFA, or progress towards a relevant industry qualification are desirable but not essential.

·  Recent graduates with relevant internships or market experience are encouraged to apply.

 

Preferred:

·  Exposure to derivatives, options, futures, or commodity markets through university studies, internships, coursework, trading competitions, or personal market research.

·  Evidence of proficiency in data analysis, programming, AI tools, or automation projects through academic or extracurricular activities.

 

 

 

Working environment: 

  • In-office
  • Travel Requirements when required max 4 times per year.
