Position Description
Quality Manager
Position Title: Quality Manager, Manufacturing Reports To: National Engineering Manager Department: Engineering Location: Melbourne Brisbane or Sydney Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Purpose
As our business grows, we diversify the products that we produce whilst targeting standardisation of these products on a larger scale. The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and business requirements. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives, promotes a culture of quality excellence, and ensures products and services consistently meet agreed standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems
Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards, legislation, and customer requirements.
Maintain quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and records.
Lead internal and external quality audits.
Compliance and Governance
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor quality performance and compliance across the business.
Support certification and accreditation activities.
Continuous Improvement
Lead root cause investigations and problem-solving activities.
Analyse quality data and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
Drive Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement programs where applicable.
Facilitate process reviews and optimisation initiatives.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
Manage customer quality concerns and complaints.
Liaise with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies regarding quality matters.
Ensure timely resolution of quality-related issues.
Provide quality reporting to senior leadership.
Risk Management
Identify and mitigate quality risks throughout operations.
Support risk assessments and business improvement projects.
Ensure appropriate controls are established and maintained.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Achievement of quality objectives and targets.
Reduction in customer complaints and non-conformances.
Audit compliance results.
Corrective action closure rates within agreed timeframes.
Continuous improvement initiatives delivered.
Product/service defect reduction.
Employee quality training completion rates.
Supplier quality performance outcomes.
Skills and Experience
Essential
Minimum 5 years' experience in a quality management role.
Strong switchboard experience in either building or pre commissioning roles.
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 preferred).
Experience conducting internal and external audits.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement capability.
Advanced reporting and data analysis skills.
Desirable
Lead Auditor qualification.
Lean Six Sigma certification.
Transportable Building experience
Sheetmetal and/or structural manufacturing experience.
Experience within manufacturing, logistics, transport, construction, or related industries.
Project management experience.
Qualifications
Essential
Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Business, Operations
Management, trade or a related discipline.
Desirable
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.
