Description
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team with the purpose of providing technical support and mentoring to our Counter Fraud file handlers. The Technical Supervisor will work directly with the Technical Manager, the Business Unit Director and our Lead Lawyers and will be responsible for the supervision, mentoring and coaching of individual Counter Fraud file handlers.
They will be responsible for supporting the handlers in delivering the best possible outcome for clients whilst also ensuring cases are progressed in a robust, strategic manner. The Technical Supervisor will be expected to drive best practice in file handling and to drive policies and strategies to support the technical progression of the file handler and help to achieve technical excellence within the Counter Fraud department.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Counter Fraud file handlers in accordance with the relevant competency framework and ensure that accurate technical development records are maintained
- Actively mentor and coach these individuals with a view to extending their technical knowledge and expertise
- Assist with pre audit assessments of all files chosen for external client audits and internal audits for the unit
- Identify any training requirements and to feedback to the appropriate Team Leader & the Technical Manager
- Responsibility to develop all new starters to achieve their financial authority within the appropriate timescales
- Identifying and escalating any opportunities for strategic litigation and any cases appropriate for complex consideration and referral
- Coaching and mentoring Counter Fraud file handlers to ensure profitable practices are adopted
- Manage individual file handlers on a performance improvement plan when relating to technical issues
- Consistently achieve against personal targets and objectives as set by the Technical Manager and Business Unit Director
- Handle a reduced caseload of non-delegated specialist claims (values of over £25,000)
- To ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct 2016

Working Hours
35 hours per week worked 9am and 5pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive with 1 hour for lunch.
The primary location for this role is our Parklands office, Bolton. We also have a presence in Birmingham and Liverpool.
We are agile workers with attendance at the office at least 1 day per week.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified solicitor / CILEX with necessary practice rights (consideration will also be given to CILEX Lawyers)
- Experienced in handling Defendant motor claims with experience in Counter Fraud
- Previous experience of handling own caseload
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressure, whilst complying with deadlines
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
- Ability to anticipate problems and identify solutions
