Custodian

Description

We are hiring a full-time night custodian.  Typical hours are 9:00 pm - 6:00 am, 5 days per week, though alternative scheduling arrangements may be negotiated.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing for all bathroom facilities.
• Maintain floors per specifications daily. 
• Maintain sidewalks and area immediately around buildings to include parking lot maintenance if necessary.
• Work cohesively with co-workers and other departments to maintain the store cleaning standards.
• Collect and dispose of trash.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Follow all Island Market safety procedures.
• Perform any and all other assigned tasks.

  Job Qualifications / Required Skills / Key Competencies

• Experience with various tools including floor scrubber, power washers, steam cleaners, etc.
• Experience in a similar environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Self-starter and ability to manage your own time effectively.
• Good analytical & organizational skills 
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal & written)
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends and holidays.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise
• Exposed to a combination of office and store environments.
• Frequently stands and walks for the duration of scheduled shifts (up to 8 hours). 
• Regularly bends, reaches, and twists while stocking cleaning product, and cleaning work areas. 
• Frequently lifts and carries items up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs, with team assistance or equipment as needed. 
• Pushes and pulls carts, racks, or pallet jacks. 
• Performs repetitive hand and wrist movements while using machinery, and other department equipment or cleaning techniques.
