Location/Region: This position is located in Wixom, MI onsite.  

What’s the role?  

The Regional Applications Manager has primary responsibility for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of a ZMS group. The Manager is responsible for coordinating activities related to customer contracted inspection services, programming services, and training services assigned to the center. Equipment and personnel availability, response time, and customer satisfaction are key success criteria for each service center. This position may require flexibility to work different shifts and weekends to meet customer demands. The role requires an entrepreneurial orientation and the ability to rapidly innovate service products and processes to drive revenue growth and productivity.

Here’s what you’ll do: 

Business Growth & Service Center Leadership 

  • Work closely with the sales & operations to develop and execute a strategic plan to rapidly grow the contract inspection business at the respective center. 

  • Drive positive developments in productivity and utilization by creating and applying innovative process improvements. 

  • Ensure utilization of ZEISS productivity tools such as quick-change tooling and fixturing, offline programming, MCC, and PiWeb. 

  • Maintain a network-based master schedule for resources and equipment. 

Customer Project Execution 

  • Prepare technical content for proposals, including cost inputs, to support timely quote delivery. 

  • Review jobs with customers prior to job start and ensure checklist requirements are appropriately captured. 

  • Work side-by-side with metrology services personnel as necessary to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. 

  • Assist Lab Engineers and Technicians as necessary to ensure jobs are completed on time, including creating and/or executing CALYPSO measurement plans when needed. 

  • Schedule and/or attend meetings to review job progress and ensure customer satisfaction. 

  • Review project results with customers in person or via web meetings as needed. 

Lab Operations, Quality & Compliance 

  • Maintain thorough operational knowledge of each piece of measurement equipment in the lab. 

  • Coordinate service repairs, maintenance, and calibrations for lab equipment used for the business. 

  • Ensure the network-based customer job file is organized and complete, including CAD files, drawings, quote, PO, job checklist, and meeting minutes. 

  • Maintain an organized and safe working environment, especially as it relates to radiation safety. 

  • Ensure the site meets ZEISS Quality Management System guidelines and is prepared for audits. 

Financial & Process Management 

  • Maintain a record of budgeted costs versus actual costs on a per-project basis. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, utilization, cost performance, and customer responsiveness. 

Other Duties 

  • Perform other duties as required. 

Do you qualify?  

  • 5-10 years of manager experience with direct reports.

  • 7-10 years of hands-on metrology lab experience.

  • A four-year degree in engineering, math, or physics is preferred.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings for dimensional control requirements.

  • Ability to operate a ZEISS coordinate measuring machine, including programming using ZEISS application software; setup and staging of work pieces; accuracy and repeatability verification; and related activities.

  • Strong computer skills and affinity for computer-aided data analysis products.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn independently and find solutions to customer problems.
