Description
Schedule:
Full-time position. Work will be performed Monday through Friday during the VA’s operating hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding Federal holidays. Employee shifts will be scheduled as needed to maintain adequate staffing during peak clinic hours, particularly Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. No new vehicles will be accepted for parking after 4:30 PM; the period from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM is for vehicle retrieval only.
Summary:
The Valet Parking Attendant will provide professional parking assistance services for disabled Veterans, patients, family members, and visitors at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Downtown Division in Augusta, Georgia.
The Valet Parking Attendant will safely park and retrieve vehicles, assist disabled patrons, manage vehicle keys and claim tickets, and provide courteous customer service while following VA safety, security, and parking procedures.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid State Driver’s License and have experience safely operating different types of vehicles.
- Must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, a legal U.S. resident or U.S. citizen, and have no felony criminal history.
- Must successfully complete required DMV record checks, security/background checks, training, and competency requirements.
Duties:
- Safely park and retrieve vehicles for Veterans, patients, family members, and visitors.
- Assist disabled patrons with entering and exiting vehicles and with wheelchairs, walkers, carts, or other personal medical equipment when requested.
- Issue parking claim tickets, properly secure vehicle keys, and maintain accurate control of parked vehicles.
- Direct traffic and organize vehicles efficiently while maintaining safe spacing and following VA parking procedures.
- Provide courteous and timely service, helping ensure disabled patrons normally wait no more than 5 minutes and other patrons receive their vehicles within 10 minutes.
