The CSA Construction Superintendent is responsible for coordinating field execution across civil, structural, and architectural scopes while working closely with project engineers, construction managers, building superintendents, and field teams. This role provides day-to-day oversight of subcontractor activities, schedule execution, quality, safety, and field coordination to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate field construction activities across civil, structural, and architectural scopes, collaborating closely with project engineers, construction managers, building superintendents, and other field superintendents.
- Direct the daily work of multiple subcontractors and ensure compliance with approved design documents, project specifications, and schedules.
- Drive execution of short-interval plans and look-ahead schedules, ensuring field activities remain aligned with the overall master schedule.
- Monitor field productivity, identify constraints, and implement corrective measures to maintain project momentum.
- Participate in daily supervisor coordination meetings, trade walks, and safety briefings.
- Ensure strict adherence to project-specific safety protocols and participate in safety audits and incident investigations.
- Monitor field installations for quality, adherence to design requirements, and compliance with applicable building codes and project specifications.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to coordinate inspections, punch lists, and system turnover milestones.
- Maintain detailed daily field reports, progress photographs, and as-built documentation.
- Communicate construction progress, field constraints, and labor status to the Building Superintendent.
- Review and provide field-related feedback on RFIs, submittals, cost estimates, and construction documentation.
- Identify and provide resolution to design and constructability issues encountered during field execution.
- Respond to client requests and project issues, utilizing technical expertise to develop effective resolutions.
- Interpret and ensure proper installations in compliance with local authority permitting requirements, applicable codes, and site specifications.
- Facilitate contractor activities and monitor performance against contractual requirements.
- Provide clear and effective communication verbally, in writing, and through electronic project communication systems.
- Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural construction practices and field execution.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors and construction work packages in complex project environments.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and as-built documentation.
- Ability to interpret and implement construction requirements in accordance with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, and project specifications.
- Experience with short-interval planning, look-ahead scheduling, field productivity tracking, and constraint management.
- Knowledge of construction QA/QC processes, inspections, punch lists, and turnover requirements.
- Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and field safety practices.
- Ability to identify and resolve constructability, design, and field coordination issues.
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, consultants, construction management teams, and subcontractors.
Education / Licenses / Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Construction or project management certification preferred.
