Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator - FT - Days - MRHS

Summary:

The Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of point of care testing. This support crosses multiple laboratory and clinic locations. Point of Care Coordinator provides technical resources and daily direction to nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers with regard to laboratory policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. The Point of Care Coordinator assures quality testing and accurate test performance through operator training, competency assessment, equipment monitoring, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control review, and proficiency testing. Incumbents operate under general supervision.

*5 days per week.
- Some POCT experience, highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates training assessments. Develops and maintains teaching and training materials.Ensures that the test systems are properly functioning. Maintains, troubleshoots and takes corrective action with equipment.May assist with maintaining inventory and supplies for the Point of Care testing.Works and communicates with nursing, physicians, employees and management.Provides technical oversight for Point of Care testing performed to meet or exceed accreditation standards.Reviews quality control for problem identification and troubleshooting. Uses quality control statistics and control procedures such as comparison between methods and results from proficiency testing to identify and correct performance problems.Manages the oversight of Point of Care Testing (POCT) for all POCT in the area.Coordinates competency assessment. Develops ands maintain competency assessment materials.Develops and oversees validation and verification studies for new instruments, methods and tests.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelors (Required)Clinical Lab Supervisor License (SU LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL), Clinical Lab Technologist License (TN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures, laboratory information systems, and instrumentation. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Other Information: Florida State License as a Technologist or Supervisor in the area of responsibility.
