Job Summary
As a Food Service Assistant, you'll help create a welcoming dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff by preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting daily food service operations. You'll play an important role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring food quality and sanitation standards are consistently met.This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
This position reports to the Executive Chef and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Previous food preparation and service experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow written and oral instructions required.
Ability to operate cash register required.

Essential Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve food, beverages, and snacks in cafeteria and patient service areas.
Provide friendly, professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
Assemble and deliver patient meal trays while ensuring dietary and quality standards are met.
Operate cash register and process transactions accurately.
Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food service, kitchen, and dining areas.
Follow food safety, infection prevention, and sanitation guidelines to support a safe environment.
Restock supplies, rotate inventory, and notify leadership of shortages.
Operate dishwashing equipment and maintain kitchen equipment according to established procedures.
Support catering services, tray line operations, and other department activities as needed.
Collaborate with Nutrition Services and clinical teams to support an exceptional patient experience.
