Parts Inventory Clerk- Maintenance

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parts Room / Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, receiving and issuing parts, organizing stockroom operations, and ensuring that maintenance, production, or operations personnel have the parts and materials needed to support equipment reliability and daily operations. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage inventory levels efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts, materials, and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips.
• Accurately enter inventory transactions into the company’s inventory management system.
• Issue parts and materials to maintenance and operations personnel while maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Maintain proper stock levels by monitoring inventory usage and identifying reorder requirements.
• Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
• Organize and maintain the parts room in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Label, store, and track inventory in designated locations.
• Research and identify replacement parts, vendors, and equipment specifications as needed.
• Coordinate with purchasing personnel to ensure timely ordering and delivery of parts.
• Track critical spare parts and ensure availability for key equipment.
• Assist in managing inventory costs by minimizing excess inventory and preventing stockouts.
• Maintain and update equipment and parts records, manuals, and related documentation.
• Follow company safety policies and housekeeping standards.
• Support maintenance planning and scheduling activities as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, maintenance stores, or parts management preferred.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and inventory management software.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to accurately record and maintain inventory data.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent walking, bending, and standing.

 

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
• One to three years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, inventory control, customer service, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.

 

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or distribution environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic parts.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) such as SAP, FIXX, MP2, or Maintenance Connection.
