PURPOSE: This position is responsible for leading maintenance planning and execution, scheduling, work management processes. This position will ensure maintenance work is planned, scheduled and executed in a manner that supports safe, reliable, compliant and cost-effective operation of generating assets. They will work to align daily maintenance activities, outage work and long-range maintenance plans with station and cooperative objectives to maintain plant reliability. This position will provide leadership for the development, coordination and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies, outage planning, work prioritization, resource planning, contractor coordination, plant reliability and related work processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Lead maintenance planning, scheduling and work management processes for assigned Dairyland Power Cooperative generation facilities to support safe, reliable and cost-effective station operation.
2. Manage, coach and develop assigned planning, scheduling and work process staff, including setting expectations, assigning work, monitoring performance and supporting employee development.
3. Oversee daily, weekly, outage and long-range maintenance schedules to ensure work is properly prioritized, planned, resourced and coordinated with operations, maintenance, engineering, stores, safety, environmental and contractor personnel.
4. Ensure work order packages are complete and executable, including scope, labor estimates, materials, tools, procedures, drawings, permits, clearances, safety requirements and contractor support needs.
5. Monitor maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, preventive maintenance completion, material readiness, resource availability and work order closeout quality to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
6. Lead outage planning and coordination activities, including scope development, schedule integration, labor planning, material readiness, contractor coordination, risk review and progress reporting.
7. Support effective use and continuous improvement of EAM and CMMS systems for work planning, scheduling, asset records, equipment history, preventive maintenance, reporting and maintenance process performance.
8. Evaluate completed work orders, equipment histories and maintenance data to identify failure trends, recurring issues, planning gaps and opportunities to improve equipment reliability and work methods.
9. Partner with stores, procurement and maintenance leadership to identify material needs, support staging of planned work and recommend appropriate min/max inventory levels for critical spare parts and new stock items.
10. Assist in developing and managing maintenance budgets, especially for planned projects, outages, contractor support, materials and maintenance improvement initiatives.
11. Lead the development, documentation and implementation of improved maintenance planning, scheduling, work management and operational practices, including process maps, procedures, manuals, schedules and training materials.
12. Serve as a member of the plant or generation management team by participating in management meetings, action plan teams, root cause reviews, safety committees, site steering groups and other efforts that support station goals, work culture and Dairyland Power Cooperative values.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, operations management, business administration, project management or another field relevant to power generation, maintenance or work management required. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in utility generation, industrial maintenance, power plant operations, maintenance planning, scheduling, project coordination or related work is required. At least three (3) years of leadership, supervisory or management experience is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience with outage planning, maintenance work management, contractor coordination, budget development and use of an Enterprise Asset Management system or Computerized Maintenance Management System is strongly preferred. Experience in the electric cooperative industry or utility generation environment is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of the operation, maintenance, design and construction of power generating facilities and related equipment.
Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance planning, scheduling and work management processes in a complex industrial or utility environment.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set expectations, coach employees, resolve conflicts, make decisions and hold teams accountable.
Knowledge of project management methodologies, process improvement techniques and maintenance best practices.
Ability to evaluate equipment histories, work order data, failure trends and maintenance performance information to identify improvement opportunities.
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance, outage planning, backlog management and maintenance reliability practices.
Ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive conditions, including outage schedules, equipment issues, resource constraints and changing operational needs.
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as vendors, contractors and external agencies.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, safety, procurement and stores.
Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes, standards and safe work practices related to power generation maintenance activities.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, project management tools and EAM or CMMS platforms.
Ability to develop, monitor and manage budgets, cost estimates, work plans and contractor support requirements.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision while maintaining strong alignment with station and cooperative priorities.
Demonstrated ability to support a team-oriented work culture and model professional, respectful behavior.

Frequent interaction is required with plant management, maintenance employees, operations personnel, engineering staff, stores personnel, contractors, vendors and other Dairyland Power Cooperative employees.
