Description
Job Summary:
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities in the Tiny Tot program.
- Trains and evaluates part-time personnel within the Tiny Tot program.
- Provides direct supervision of Recreation Leaders assigned to the Tiny Tot program.
- Plans, organizes, and conducts programs and activities for children at the Tiny Tot Center.
- Works closely with parents to support understanding of their child’s growth and development.
- Participates in the assessment and evaluation of ongoing departmental needs and requirements.
- Prepares routine and special reports as requested.
- Assists in the promotion of departmental programs and activities.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles, age-appropriate activities, and positive behavior-management techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with children, parents, and staff.
- Skill in observing and documenting children’s behavior, progress, and needs.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Communicate effectively with children ages 3 - 5 years of age and their parents; establish and maintain effective working relations with staff and the public; supervise and train staff; lead and instruct a wide range of activities.
- Ability to plan and implement structured and unstructured activities that support social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

Physical Requirements:
Positions in this category require moderate physical exertion associated with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or climb, which involve the safeguarding of individuals, public and property. This position also requires extensive and repetitive physical activity involving the arms, wrists, and hands, including writing and using a keyboard. It also requires physical abilities associated with the ability to read, write and communicate in a work environment requiring no extraordinary physical strength or other special physical qualifications.
Licenses/Certificates:
A valid California class C Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
