The Lease Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of oil and gas production facilities within the STX Asset. Based out of the Carrizo Springs, Texas office, this position performs daily well and facility inspections, monitors production performance, troubleshoots operational issues, supports production optimization efforts, and ensures compliance with company, regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Commit to HSE&R in all activities and demonstrate a strong safety-first mindset.
Perform routine operational checks of assigned wells, production equipment, and facility locations.
Monitor production performance, identify operational issues, and communicate recommendations for optimization.
Collect, record, and submit accurate daily production data including gas and liquid volumes, well pressures, equipment status, and chemical usage.
Conduct production tests, equipment inspections, and minor repairs as required.
Witness gauging, testing, and measurement activities to ensure accuracy of production records and run tickets.
Troubleshoot production equipment and artificial lift systems including gas lift and plunger lift applications.
Utilize production technology including SCADA and P2 Field Operator systems to monitor and manage operations.
Maintain regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance in coordination with Operations Engineering, Superintendents, Foremen, and HSE personnel.
Represent the company during delivery and receipt of materials, equipment, and field services.
Maintain company equipment including vehicles, computers, and field-testing equipment.
Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist or are suspected.
Respond to emergencies and significant operational events as required.
Maintain lease and facility appearance including painting, housekeeping, vegetation control, and road maintenance.
Maintain positive working relationships with surface owners, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
Assist with training and development of less experienced lease operators as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Strong commitment to business ethics, HSE&R, and safe work practices.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage competing priorities.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, leadership, and support teams.
Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a company vehicle.
Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and respond to operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Oil and gas production operations experience preferred.
Experience with P2 Field Operator.
Experience with SCADA systems.
Experience operating and troubleshooting artificial lift systems such as gas lift and plunger lift.
