Description
Duration: 9-12 months
Position Summary:
- Develop and execute data quality, privacy, and compliance test plans.
- Validate compliance with FERPA, COPPA, New York Education Law § 2-d, and applicable Data Privacy Agreements.
- Test aggregation and anonymization rules applied to student, school, and district data.
- Verify that required N-size suppression rules are correctly applied to public reports and dashboards.
- Validate data masking and de-identification of personally identifiable information and other sensitive data.
- Confirm that public-facing datasets contain only approved, aggregated, and anonymized information.
- Test the separation of public-facing data from internal, detailed, or raw source data.
- Validate dashboard calculations, filters, totals, trends, metrics, and underlying data.
- Reconcile dashboard and reporting outputs against Oracle, PowerSchool, and other source systems.
- Identify data-quality, privacy, security, and reporting defects and document expected corrective actions.
- Perform regression testing after data pipeline, transformation, suppression, or dashboard changes.
- Maintain test cases, test evidence, defect logs, traceability documentation, and validation results.
- Work with data engineers, integration leads, business analysts, reporting developers, and privacy stakeholders to resolve defects.
- Support final acceptance testing and approval of datasets intended for public reporting.
- Experience testing data integrations, reporting datasets, dashboards, or data warehouse environments.
- Experience validating FERPA, COPPA, New York Education Law § 2-d, or comparable education data privacy requirements.
- Experience validating compliance with Data Privacy Agreements.
- Hands-on experience testing data aggregation, anonymization, masking, and de-identification.
- Experience validating N-size suppression or similar small-group disclosure protections.
- Experience verifying dashboard data accuracy and reconciling results to source systems.
- Experience testing the separation of public-facing data from internal, restricted, or raw data.
- Strong knowledge of data-quality testing, reconciliation, validation, and defect management.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience working with K–12 school districts, education agencies, or student information systems.
- Experience testing PowerSchool, Oracle, education data warehouses, or public reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of personally identifiable information, student-data privacy, role-based access controls, and secure data-handling practices.
- Experience with SQL, ETL/ELT testing, API testing, SFTP data feeds, and automated data pipelines.
- Familiarity with Ed-Fi, OneRoster, or similar education data standards.
