Your responsibilities:
- Perform simulation-driven analysis, design, and optimization of turbocharging systems to support internal projects and customer applications
- Develop a deep system-level understanding of turbocharging and powertrain integration, including performance optimization
- Develop and apply advanced component-level turbocharger modeling to enhance compressor and turbine map accuracy, and to assess performance potential and operational limits in innovative applications
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by challenging existing approaches and translating concepts into practical, value-adding solutions
- Take technical ownership of complex studies and deliverables
- Contribute to and coordinate R&D projects, including planning, execution, and risk identification/mitigation
- Monitor technology trends (performance, alternative fuels, emissions, electrification), identify key drivers for R&D, and track relevant patents and competitive developments
- Critically assess and improve simulation models (0D/1D) and support data analysis of testbed measurements
- Support internal code developers to implement and validate new features (Matlab, Python,…)
- Build and maintain a strong technical network with internal stakeholders and external partners (universities, industry forums, conferences)
- Marine decarbonization & Customer specific Working Group
- Support Maintenance of our Turbocharger database and documentation
Your background:
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Great interest in the field of internal combustion engines, turbomachinery, future powertrains and thermodynamics in general Interest in complex project management
- Team player but able to work independently. Flexible to start and learn new topics
- An analytical and solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Experience and interest in coding to support the software engineers
- Ability to synthetize complex information and present key points in a concisely way
- Experience with measurements on testbed is an asset
- Experience with turbocharging optimization using 0D/1D thermodynamic software (GTpower, Gasdyn, Wave,…) is an asset
- Fluency in English is required. German is an asset
