We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator with a background in interior construction, particularly commercial drywall, metal stud framing, acoustical ceilings, and flooring. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive bids, and coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the preconstruction process.
The ideal candidate has direct commercial interior construction estimating experience, strong technical knowledge of interior building systems, and the ability to manage multiple bids while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates and competitive bids for commercial drywall, metal framing, ceiling systems, flooring, and interior build-out projects.
- Review blueprints, architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid revisions to determine project scope and material quantities.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Identify scope gaps, drawing conflicts, pricing discrepancies, and potential budget risks before bid submission.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, compare pricing, and verify that all required scope items are covered.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages with detailed cost breakdowns, scope descriptions, assumptions, exclusions, and alternate options.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate alternative materials or construction methods while maintaining quality and specification requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, general contractors, suppliers, and clients to clarify project scope and validate pricing.
- Maintain cost databases, supplier pricing records, historical estimates, and organized bid documentation.
- Develop preliminary budgets, negotiated pricing, change-order estimates, and revised bids as project requirements evolve.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walkthroughs, and post-bid discussions.
- Transition awarded estimates to project teams, providing detailed cost breakdowns and documented assumptions.
- Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting bid submission deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures and historical cost tracking to support pricing accuracy and consistency.
