Description
We are hiring Class A drivers in Fort Bend County and southwest Houston for a regional dry van fleet that keeps you in the middle of the country and often routes you back through the house. You run Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas and the Mid-South, home every two weeks, at about $1,100 to $1,300 a week. Your first 3 months solo carry a $1,000 weekly minimum. New CDL holders train with a mentor at $850 a week. Drivers with 6 months or more of recent experience go solo after orientation.
What you get
- $0.50 to $0.72 per mile based on verifiable experience
- 1,700 to 2,000 miles a week
- About $1,100 to $1,300 a week
- $1,000 weekly minimum for your first 3 months solo
- $15 per stop
- $850 a week during training
- Home every two weeks, often through the house in between
- Your own assigned truck, about 1.5 years old on average
- Paid weekly by direct deposit
What we ask
- Run regional lanes across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama, with some loads into Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois
- Handle a mix of drop and hook, preloads, live loads and live unloads
- Work weekends, and plan time off ahead, since some customers need holiday coverage
- Be ready for different customers week to week. This is regional, not dedicated
How you get started
A recruiter calls and reviews your license and record. Orientation is in Houston, two days at most, with your hotel covered and your bus ticket paid back, and pays $300 once you are hired. New drivers then ride with a mentor for 3 to 5 weeks, about 200 to 250 hours. With 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months, you skip that step and start solo. A TWIC card helps but is not required.
Benefits after 30 days
Medical, dental, vision and prescription. 401(k) and employee stock purchase plan. Paid time off. A free online degree for you and one family member. Approved riders and one dog under 40 pounds after training.
Requirements
- Class A CDL from your state of residence, 21 or older
- Completed CDL-A training at a truck driving school (minimum 120 hours), or 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years
- No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years
- DOT physical, hair and urine drug screen
