to be the subject matter expert for our highly automated packaging equipment.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical manufacturing assets, driving machine performance, reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced medical device manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams, you will play a key role in ensuring our operations consistently deliver world-class levels of safety, quality, and performance.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for high-speed, fully automated process equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reliability, and waste reduction.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to Production and Maintenance teams, troubleshooting issues and driving timely resolution of equipment challenges.
  • Lead investigations into recurring faults and performance losses, implementing sustainable corrective and preventative actions.
  • Apply learnings from breakdowns, stoppages, and quality issues to continuously improve maintenance strategies and machine performance.
  • Plan and coordinate repairs, upgrades, overhauls, and equipment improvement projects, including spare parts management.
  • Partner with suppliers, contractors, and equipment manufacturers to support equipment optimisation and technical problem-solving.
  • Support investigations relating to quality events, customer complaints, and manufacturing defects, implementing improvement actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Contribute to the development and coaching of engineering technicians, apprentices, and new team members.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and equipment optimisation initiatives across the site.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, maintenance records, performance reports, and engineering metrics.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring equipment and work areas are maintained to the highest safety and housekeeping standards.

About You

You are a technically curious and solutions-focused engineering professional who enjoys understanding how equipment works, improving performance, and solving complex technical problems.

You take ownership of issues from identification through to resolution and thrive in a collaborative manufacturing environment where reliability, quality, and efficiency are critical.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • National Craft Certificate, Engineering Technician qualification, or a third-level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience working within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems associated with automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Practical troubleshooting and fault-finding experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple functions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer literacy and experience using engineering or maintenance systems.

Preferred Experience
