Role summary:
The Principal, Technical Program Manager leads complex, large-scale technology programs by defining goals, managing cross-functional dependencies, and driving end-to-end delivery. This role requires expertise in program and risk management, technical design, and stakeholder engagement to ensure scalable, high-quality solutions. The position involves coordinating multiple teams, resolving ambiguities, and implementing process improvements to optimize outcomes. The successful candidate will communicate effectively across various groups, mentor team members, and leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational excellence throughout program lifecycles.
About the team:
The Decision Sciences team at Walmart leads strategic initiatives by delivering reliable data assets and applying scientific rigor to decision-making. They focus on digitizing enterprise domains, building shared data platforms, and ensuring data quality and consistency. Collaborating across functions, the team manages complex programs with expertise in technical design and systems architecture. Emphasizing clear communication, risk management, and continuous improvement, they develop scalable, high-performing solutions that support enterprise-wide goals and enable informed business decisions and operational excellence.
What you'll do:
  • Define and manage large-scale technical programs with multiple dependencies, ensuring alignment of goals, timelines, and resources across teams.
  • Lead end-to-end system design discussions, translating product requirements into scalable, high-availability technical solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and drive clarity in ambiguous situations to maintain program momentum.
  • Establish and improve standardized workflows, prioritization frameworks, and automation opportunities to enhance program efficiency.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and impacts clearly to stakeholders, fostering alignment and informed decision-making.
  • Mentor team members on best practices in program and technical management.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in program and project management, including risk and stakeholder management across complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proven ability to define goals, stage gates, and critical delivery paths for large-scale technical programs with multiple dependencies.
  • Strong technical expertise in system architecture, software design, cloud infrastructure, and platform capabilities.
  • Skilled in translating product requirements into scalable, high-availability technical solutions and operational excellence frameworks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication, aligning various stakeholders, and driving consensus in ambiguous situations.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with data-driven decision-making and risk mitigation experience.
  • Ability to mentor teams and implement process improvements to accelerate delivery and enhance quality outcomes.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications...
