We currently have an opening for a Network Analyst I
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology – Transportation (NCDIT-T) is seeking a Network Analyst I to support the Network Field Services team. Statewide travel is required as this position provides hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, technical leadership, documentation, and lifecycle support for network infrastructure located throughout NCDOT and DMV facilities across North Carolina.
Duties include, but are not limited, to:
• Support LAN connectivity, Cisco network switches, structured copper and fiber-optic cabling, network racks, patch panels, UPS equipment, circuit installations, site relocations, renovations, network refreshes, and new facility deployments
• May serve as the onsite technical lead or site supervisor for Network Field Services projects and deployments
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) and mentor to junior Network Technicians, providing technical direction, job-site guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and oversight to ensure work is completed according to NCDIT-T standards
• Conduct detailed network site surveys and producing the associated technical documentation, including site survey reports, Microsoft Visio network diagrams, rack elevations, floor-plan markups, cable-path diagrams, equipment layouts, and as-built documentation
About the Division:
The Network Field Services team is responsible for the onsite installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, documentation, and support of network infrastructure serving NCDOT and DMV facilities throughout North Carolina. The team supports physical network infrastructure including LAN switching, structured copper and fiber-optic cabling, telecommunications rooms, network racks, patch panels, UPS systems, circuit installations, wireless infrastructure, facility relocations, network refreshes, and new-site deployments.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred:
• Hands-on experience installing, replacing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco enterprise network switches and supporting VLANs, Ethernet connectivity, PoE devices, switch ports, uplinks, and other Layer 1/Layer 2 network services
• Experience supporting structured copper and fiber-optic infrastructure, including CAT6 cabling, single-mode and multimode fiber, patch panels, fiber enclosures, optical transceivers, testing, tracing, cleaning, troubleshooting, labeling, and documentation
• Experience serving as an onsite technical lead, SME, senior technician, or project lead for network installations, site surveys, equipment deployments, office relocations, network refreshes, circuit activations, cutovers, and outage troubleshooting

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution
OR
Associate degree in computer science, or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking related experience
OR
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of networking related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
