TITLE: Home Health Aide (HHA incl. STNA, CNA, PCA, or DoDD DSP)

LOCATION: Dayton Metropolitan Area, Ohio (Montgomery County and surrounding communities)


Join Our Team as a PRN / As-Needed Caregiver

Home Care Network (HCN) is seeking compassionate, dependable, and experienced caregivers to join our team in a PRN (as-needed) capacity. This opportunity is ideal for healthcare professionals seeking supplemental income, schedule flexibility, or a pathway to future part-time or full-time opportunities.

Important Position Expectations

This is a PRN / As-Needed position only. Applicants must understand and be comfortable with the following:

  • Hours vary significantly from week to week.
  • Some weeks may offer multiple available shifts.
  • Some weeks may offer limited hours.
  • Some weeks may offer no available hours at all.
  • No minimum number of hours is guaranteed.
  • No consistent schedule is guaranteed.
  • Weekly earnings will vary based on client needs and available assignments.
  • Shift opportunities are based entirely on client census, staffing needs, geographic location, caregiver availability, qualifications, and overall business demand.

Travel Expectations

  • Willingness to travel to and from all client residences to provide care during scheduled, agreed-upon dates and times is required.
  • For All PRN Caregivers: Travel up to a 30-minute radius (from your home) is required, and willingness to cover clients up to a 45- or 60-minute radius is highly desired.

 This role is best suited for individuals who desire flexibility and can accommodate a schedule that changes based on client needs.


Typical Shift Availability

Most available assignments occur during:

  • Weekdays (Monday through Friday)
  • Morning start times typically between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM
  • Afternoon/evening end times typically between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM

Shift lengths and schedules vary by client and assignment, and may vary day-to-day, week-to-week for PRN Caregivers.

Weekend opportunities may occasionally become available but are not guaranteed. 


Potential Opportunity for Part-Time or Full-Time Hours

After successfully completing approximately 30 days of employment, PRN caregivers may be considered for additional client assignments that could increase hours into a:

  • Part-Time schedule, or
  • Full-Time schedule

if desired by the employee.

Please note:

  • Increased hours are not guaranteed.
  • Additional assignments are dependent upon client availability, business needs, geographic coverage requirements, employee performance, and staffing demands.
  • Employees are never required to accept additional hours if they prefer to remain PRN.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should possess one of the following:

Option 1

  • Active Ohio STNA or CNA certification; and
  • Minimum one (1) year of paid caregiving experience.

Option 2

  • Active Ohio DODD DSP Certification; and
  • Minimum one (1) year of paid experience supporting individuals with disabilities; and
  • Willingness to provide care for both DODD and non-DODD clients.

Option 3

  • Minimum three (3) years of paid home care, caregiving, HHA, or PCA experience without certification.

Additional experience with medication reminders, transfers, gait belts, Hoyer lifts, dementia care, specialized disease-state support, and related caregiving skills is highly desirable, but not required.

The following are non-negotiable requirements for successful employment and advancement of ALL Qualified Caregivers:

  • Possess a strong track record of attendance, dependability, and employment retention with previous employers is required.
  • Willingness and aptitude to perform light housekeeping in addition to patient care services as needed.
  • Ability to perform all main physical tasks on a regular basis, and willingness to do so safely, is required. Typical Physical Demands include:
    • Frequent: standing, walking, stopping, ending
    • Infrequent: squatting/kneeling, balancing
    • Pushing and handling weight/force: 1-20 lbs. frequently, 20-30 lbs. occasionally, and 30-50 lbs. infrequently
    • Lifting and carrying: 1-20 lbs. frequently, 20-30 lbs. occasionally, 30-50 lbs. infrequently
  • Good interpersonal skills and compassion for helping others live their best lives.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and follow a written Plan of Care, incorporating attention to detail in following instructions, documenting notes, and communicating with our agency.
  • Professional character traits: reliable, honest beyond reproach, punctual, articulate, compassionate, detail-oriented (in care + documentation), accountable, friendly and accommodating, respectful, self-driven, problem-solver, compliant, and confidential.

  • Mileage reimbursement between multiple clients is provided.

STARTING PAY RATE:

  • STNA / CNA / DSP: $16 - $19 per hour
  • HHA / CHHA: $15 - $18 per hour

Hourly Pay is based on experience, travel, qualifications and certifications, skill specializations, positive employment & job tenure history, positive professional references, and overall client & team fit. HCN pays weekly, on Fridays, via direct deposit into your bank account.


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-3 years of verifiable experience in home care or caregiving setting (based on credentials).
  • Successful completion of HCN's written skills test and/or competency evaluation.
  • Meet/Completion of all training and/or certifications required by the state in which the home health aide services are being provided. This includes specifications of contracted agencies for which services are being provided.
  • CPR and First Aide Certifications (active/current certs preferred but may also be obtained prior to hire date through HCN or accredited third party).

  • Be at lease eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Valid driver's license/ID and reliable transportation to/from client care locations.
  • Consent and ability to pass a State and/or Federal Background Check.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • 3-5 years of paid experience in a home health or caregiving setting.
  • Paid experience with a Home Health Agency.
  • Formal certification or training program: STNA (or 2026 graduation date) highly preferred; CNA or CHHA still encouraged to apply.
  • Specialized certification or training program, such as DODD-DSP, Med Certification, EMR/EHR, etc.
  • EMR/EHR experience and proficiency (ContinuLink highly desirable).

GENERAL ROLE SUMMARY
A successful Home Healthcare Aide provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist in their region. You will be assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and perform services for clients as necessary to maintain personal comfort and safety in their home.

 

As a Home Health Aide, you will:  

  • Deliver direct patient care and support, following the established plan of care, to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Measure and record vital signs and other specified metrics as instructed.
  • Assist with personal care tasks and activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, oral hygiene, nail & skin care, shaving, dressing).
  • Perform household tasks essential to health care and living at home (e.g., meal preparation/feeding, laundry, light housekeeping).
  • Assists patients in taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes opening a container or pill caddy & handing it to the patient but does not include administration of the medications.
  • Identify and report any abnormal findings or changes in the patient's condition.
  • Help with therapy exercises under supervision of our therapists (e.g., range of motion exercises, ambulation assistance).
