Description
Supervises all nursing activities in the CAH hospital. Provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within Stanton County Hospital. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Oversee nursing personnel, quality improvement initiatives, staffing, budgeting, education, and clinical operations in support of the hospital's mission and goals.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for nursing personnel.
2) Ensure appropriate staffing and participate in direct patient care as needed.
3) Develop, implement, and review nursing policies and procedures.
4) Lead quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, utilization review, and discharge planning initiatives.
5) Monitor quality indicators, patient outcomes, and corrective action plans.
6) Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation, KDHE, HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and other applicable standards.
7) Collaborate with providers, department leaders, pharmacy services, and administration to improve patient care.
8) Oversee medication management, controlled substance accountability, and formulary processes with the pharmacist and medical staff.
9) Prepare annual budget for departments under the supervision of Director of Nursing and ensure that departments operate within established budgetary guidelines.
10) Prepare and manage departmental operating and capital budgets while monitoring labor and supply expenses.
11) Coordinate hiring, orientation, competency validation, education, and succession planning.
12) Coordinate CPR/ACLS education and instructor certifications when applicable.
13) Promote effective use of the electronic health record and clinical information systems.
14) Participate in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and incident command activities.
15) Represent the hospital professionally with patients, families, staff, community members, and regulatory agencies.
16) Perform other duties as assigned.
DEGREE OF LATITUDE
Allowed a great deal of latitude. Must be able to use independent, decisive judgment and operate under general guidelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is conducted in clean, well-lit, heated and ventilated rooms. May involve frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biological hazards and unpleasant patient activities. Physical demands include bending, stooping, moving patients, pushing and pulling equipment. Stress level may be high. Subject to 24-hour Nursing Administrative on call.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations
Must maintain current R.N. licensure by the Kansas State Board of nursing, and ACLS certification.
Special Knowledge or Skills
Strong interpersonal skills, familiarity with all aspects of nursing practice, ability to exercise independent judgment and tolerate high stress levels. Strong medical staff relationship skills. Should have some business knowledge and management training or experience.
Prior Experience
Minimum five years’ experience in hospital nursing with at least two years in a management or supervisory position.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Additional training or certification in neonatology, obstetrics, or surgical procedures is highly desirable.
