Business Analyst - Gooding Christie's (1year Fixed Term Contract)

Why this role matters

The successful candidate will provide analytical, operational, and strategic support across Gooding Christie's global auction and private sales business. Working closely with senior leadership, specialists, Commercial Finance, Christie’s Art Finance, and other Gooding Christie’s and Christie’s colleagues, the Business Analyst will help drive informed decision-making through market intelligence, financial analysis, business reporting, and project coordination.

 

The role will support a broad range of commercial initiatives, including market valuations and appraisals, transaction analysis, commercial finance approvals, art financing initiatives, business development, strategic planning, and cross-functional projects. The Business Analyst will also play an important role in supporting Gooding Christie’s continued integration with Christie’s systems and data platforms, while helping develop scalable reporting and business processes to support future growth.

 

How you will make an impact

• Support specialists and leadership with market valuations, appraisal analysis, and market research.
• Monitor competitor auctions, private sales, and market activity; prepare regular reporting on market trends, auction performance, sell-through rates, and pricing.
• Maintain and develop historical transaction databases, market intelligence resources, and business reporting tools.
• Coordinate the internal commercial approval process for guarantees, enhanced hammer arrangements, and other structured transactions, working closely with Commercial Finance and preparing supporting analyses and presentation materials.
• Build financial models, business cases, executive presentations, and briefing materials for senior management and strategic decision-making.
• Support business development initiatives by analyzing market opportunities, client activity, regional performance, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal and external financial partners, including providing transaction data, market information, and reporting to support financial modelling and analysis.
• Assist with development and implementation of reporting dashboards, business metrics, and specialist performance reporting.
• Support cross-functional strategic initiatives, including Europe growth, Private Sales expansion, sealed bid initiatives, and technology implementation projects.
• Assist with data integrity, reporting processes, and systems integration as Gooding Christie’s continues its integration with Christie’s technology platforms.
• Perform other duties and strategic projects as assigned.

 

What you will bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree required ; degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, or related field preferred
• 1–3 years of experience in business analysis, consulting, financial analysis, strategy, commercial operations, or similar analytical role.
• Some prior work experience in a fast-paced, client-facing or operational environment preferred
• Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to build financial models and executive presentations
• Experience working with reporting systems, CRM platforms, or business intelligence tools preferred, with ability to learn Christie’s internal systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and functions.
• Interest in automobiles and/or the collector car market preferred
• Fluency in English

Salary: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
