Description
We don’t just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we’ve been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you’re an owner.
As a Flooring Install Leader, your primary objective is to be the mastermind behind leading, developing, and expanding our Blue Crew Flooring Install Team and subcontractor network. You are responsible for managing team administration (timecards, expenses, scheduling), recruiting top installation talent, enforcing quality and safety standards, and keeping subcontractors informed on products and methods. As the guardian of installation quality, you ensure every job is completed safely, on time, and with perfection while building strong, lasting relationships across Team Blue.
- Team Leadership & Administration: Lead and develop the internal Blue Crew; manage timecards, expenses, vacation requests, and performance evaluations to keep operations at full capacity.
- Subcontractor Bench Building: Recruit new sub crews, build strong relationships, keep partners updated on new products and techniques, and ensure they feel valued as part of the Drexel family.
- Quality Control & Problem Solving: Perform jobsite inspections, enforce installation standards, step in to resolve jobsite challenges quickly, and hold crews accountable for quality execution.
- Training & Equipment Management: Design training agendas, lead crew huddles, ensure teams have proper tools and equipment, and assist in onboarding new team members as the business grows.
- Market & Material Alignment: Monitor market payout rates to keep subcontractor compensation competitive and fair; collaborate with the merchant team for proper material stocking.
- Safety & Compliance: Complete required safety programs and enforce all safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe, clean working environment.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage performance, lead team huddles, and build strong professional relationships.
- Flooring & Construction Knowledge: Solid technical understanding of flooring products, installation methods, tools, and jobsite safety rules.
- Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Strong decision-making skills with the ability to resolve jobsite issues quickly and enforce high quality standards.
- Administrative & Technical Aptitude: Ability to manage timecards, expenses, schedules, and coordinate material needs with purchasing/merchant teams.
- Field and Office: This position will spend about 25% in the office and 75% of your time out in the field on job sites working with, training and developing Flooring Installers.
- Managing a schedule & calendar to maximize travel to job sites across Wisconsin while prioritizing recruitment, training and development.
Performance is measured by your direct impact on installation quality, crew capacity, and team safety:
- Quality Execution: Zero jobsite callbacks and 100% on-time project completion to Drexel perfection standards.
- Bench Strength: Maintaining a fully capacity-matched Blue Crew and a strong network of loyal subcontractor installers.
- Safety Record: Perfect adherence to safety regulations with zero preventable jobsite incidents.
- Workload Driver: The primary workload metric is the total volume of successful flooring installations managed across internal and subcontractor crews.
- ESOP Shares: We don’t just work here; we own the place. You’ll earn a real stake in the company’s success.
- Profit Sharing: When Drexel wins, our team wins.
- 401k: A solid foundation for your long-term retirement goals.
