Position Summary:
The Commercial Lending Specialist provides both analytical and administrative support throughout the commercial lending lifecycle. This role partners closely with lenders, credit professionals, loan operations, and customers to support loan origination activities, gather and analyze financial information, prepare loan packages, coordinate documentation, and facilitate the closing process. The Commercial Lending Specialist assists with credit analysis, underwriting support, document collection and review, covenant tracking, and other lending-related activities designed to promote sound credit decisions and exceptional customer service. Also serves as a developmental position with opportunities to advance into Underwriting or Loan Closing.
Responsibilities:
- Commercial Loan Origination Support – Assist lenders throughout the loan origination process by gathering, organizing, and reviewing borrower information and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Credit & Underwriting Support – Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other borrower information; prepare financial spreads, cash flow analyses, and related materials to support credit analysis and underwriting decisions.
- Loan Package Preparation – Prepare and package commercial loan requests for underwriting, approval, and closing, ensuring information is accurate and consistent with bank requirements.
- Documentation & Closing Coordination – Coordinate loan documentation and third-party reports, monitor outstanding items and approval conditions, and assist with loan closings and post-closing activities.
Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field and 1-3 years of relevant banking or financial services experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Commercial lending, credit analysis, loan processing, or loan closing experience.
- Experience analyzing financial statements and tax returns.
- Knowledge of regulatory guidance governing commercial lending practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present recommendations to senior management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficient in the use of basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Basic Office Machine Operation Skills; printers, scanners, copiers, fax, postage machine, etc.
