Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub) is built around a simple purpose: to clear the way to help people turn intention into action, and action into financial progress. That means offering focused products, a frictionless mobile-first experience, and clear terms with no gotchas. Respect and fairness is part of our DNA, and that ideal shapes how we work, how we treat each other, and how we invest in our employees and our community. Join us in using data, bold thinking, and a commitment to innovation to help clear the way for millions of Americans to achieve more.

About the Role

As a key member of Happen Bank's Credit Risk Management team, you'll help develop, implement, and monitor underwriting and pricing strategies for our Personal Loans product. Your analysis will help improve risk-adjusted returns, manage credit losses, and identify responsible growth opportunities. You'll deliver defined analyses and support strategy changes with guidance from experienced teammates.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development and implementation of credit strategies across underwriting, pricing, loan amounts, and verification using estimated default risk and borrower performance
  • Help design and evaluate A/B tests to understand risk-return tradeoffs using hypothesis-testing frameworks
  • Build automated dashboards to track KPIs across funnel conversion and strategy and portfolio performance, translating findings into clear recommendations for business stakeholders
  • Analyze loan performance data to identify areas of underperformance, conduct root-cause analysis, and support recommendations for risk mitigation
  • Assess credit expansion opportunities by estimating their potential impact on loan volume, credit losses, and risk-adjusted revenue
  • Evaluate traditional and non-traditional data sources to identify opportunities to strengthen credit decisioning and improve how existing data elements are used
  • Partner with Technology teams to document requirements, validate implementation, and monitor strategy changes after launch
  • Use off-the-shelf and custom AI tools to support analysis, synthesize insights, and generate reports, identifying opportunities within your work to expand effective AI usage or improve existing tools

About You

  • 2+ years of experience in credit, analytics, risk management, data science, or a combination of these areas
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Educational or professional background in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Economics
  • Experience using SQL to work with data, along with familiarity with Python or R for analysis
  • Hands-on experience using tools such as Tableau or Excel to build dashboards and communicate analytical findings
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and hypothesis testing, with an interest in applying these methods to credit risk and pricing decisions
  • Ability to explain findings, assumptions, and limitations clearly through written communication and presentations
  • You take accountability for the accuracy and timely delivery of your work and exercise good judgment about when to ask questions, raise issues, and seek guidance
  • You bring curiosity to solving business problems, are open to feedback, and collaborate effectively while continuing to build your expertise
  • You have familiarity with AI tools through personal or professional use and understand their strengths and limitations. You're ready to apply them at work while validating outputs, protecting sensitive data, and recognizing when human review is needed
