UW Medical Center-Montlake - Center for Esophageal and Gastric Diseases (CEGS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Nurse.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Full time / 40 hours per week
- Monday-Friday; the exact days worked may vary by week
- RNs can work 4x10s or 5x8s - additional details will be provided in the interview
- Shifts will run between 7:00am and 5:30pm; the exact hours may vary each week
- RNs can perform occasional telework (up to 1 day per week) after they have completed their initial 6-month probationary period
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Center for Esophageal and Gastric Diseases (CEGS) is part of our Surgical Specialties Clinic. The CEGS Team provides specialized surgical consultations for the digestive tract, with a focus on the esophagus and the stomach. Our multidisciplinary team evaluates many symptoms, including those related to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), esophageal and gastric cancer, hiatal and paraoesophageal hernias, achalasia, and esophageal diverticula. We also have the largest upper GI physiology lab in the country, which provides expert disease assessments and assures the most accurate treatment decisions.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in close partnership with our attending surgeons and advanced practice providers
- Review pertinent patient health history and physician orders in preparation for interventional procedures
- Provide patient care across the pre- and post-surgical continuum
- Perform symptom assessments, wound care, wound vac changes, drain pulls, staple/suture removals, PICC line care, central line blood draws, PORT access/de-access, foley catheter removal, and assist attending surgeons in Abdominal Botox Injections
- Perform pre-operative education for patients in clinic, via phone, and via MyChart
- Support the clinic with phone triage and MyChart follow-up
- When needed, provide cross coverage to other specialties within the Surgical Specialties Clinic
REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of recent nursing experience with surgical patients - inpatient experience preferred
- Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse license in Washington State
- Active BLS
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
