Job Summary
Responsible for planning and executing customer delivery orders and ensure efficient and effective materials to achieve company objectives. Develops and maintains production schedules and works closely with Manufacturing, Strategic Sourcing, Quality and other supporting functions in integrating information required to meet production schedules. Identifies issues preventing execution of production plans, aggressively pursues timely closure of the same, escalates issues in a timely and appropriate manner, and provides comprehensive status to management.
Essential Functions
- Initiate planning process to MRP demand.
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet MRP demand.
- Monitor shop workload and capacity, ensuring necessary resources are available.
- Coordinate with Production Management team to optimize shop capacity and resource allocation.
- Issues orders and coordinates with Procurement to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Analyze production data to identify and resolve bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
- Identifies issues impacting or which have potential to impact production schedules, recommend remedial actions, and achieve closure in support of production schedules.
- Maintain accurate records and report on production activities, and work-in-progress using the MRP.
- Collaborating with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and other supporting functions to resolve issues and integrate information on production schedules.
- Supports and evaluate Bids with planning information such as accurate lead time.
- Generates Forecast of 3–6 month Production Schedule.
- Reports and Chairs Weekly Production Meetings.
- Reviews Bill of Materials (BOM's) to verify lead times and manage to schedules.
- Generates and approves the release of shipments to the customer.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Guide and assist junior planners as needed.
- Perform other relevant tasks and duties as assigned to support production objectives.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain or Operations Management, or similar and 5+ years of experience in production planning or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain.
- Experience in Lean Mfg. / continuous improvement, problem-solving teams.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion about matters related to production planning decisions.
- Proficiency in MRP systems; Infor VISUAL preferred.
- Ability to understand and interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, problem-solve, good communication, and time management skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
