Description

Site: The General Hospital Corporation

Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.

Job Summary

We are recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow to join a multi-site research team conducting a pooled analysis of data from three completed clinical trials of motor-based treatment for childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). The project will build an open research repository of treatment data from these studies and examine child-, session-, and target-level predictors of treatment response. The team will also develop an algorithm to support clinicians in applying evidence-based treatment target selection methods in CAS.

Qualifications

This position is contingent on grant funding and the duration of this position is expected to be for 21 months from the start date.

Does this position require Patient Care? No

Primary responsibilities include (1) managing and coordinating data and building the research repository, (2) conducting statistical analyses for the planned aims, and (3) disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings. The fellow will also receive structured mentorship to support their career development, along with travel funding to present this work at conferences. Additional opportunities for teaching or mentoring students in statistical methods may be available for interested applicants.

The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in quantitative methods and/or psychometrics and a desire to develop further expertise through mentored postdoctoral training. Study methods will include multilevel modeling, Bayesian approaches, and item response theory, primarily implemented in R. Knowledge of motor learning, child speech and language development, phonetics, or related areas is a plus. The position is well suited to applicants with a PhD (or candidacy) in quantitative or developmental psychology, communication sciences and disorders, rehabilitation science, or a related field with a strong quantitative background, as well as applicants trained in statistics or research methods who are interested in applied health research.

In the cover letter, applicants are encouraged to highlight one manuscript (published or preprint) that exemplifies how their research interests and/or expertise are relevant to the position.
